Resizing a ring down 0.25 size at Jared

Gen, on June 25, 2018 at 10:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
Does anyone have experience resizing a ring at Jared? I got my engagement ring from them 6 months ago. It was originally a size 7 and they made it to a size 5 when they gave it to me, so I gues it already has been “resized” once, and I have had no problems with the ring itself, other than the fact that it is still slightly too big... it doesn’t fall off, but there’s a noticeable gap between my finger and the band. I thing they measured my finger incorrectly, ugh.

I want to just size it down by 0.25 of a size just to make it fit a little better, but I’ve read so many stories about people’s rings being made weaker and cracking after resizing. I’m scared because it’s in such good condition I don’t want to risk ruining that and weakening the metal, but also it’s super annoying that it doesn’t fit properly.

Anyone else resize a ring at Jared and have positive/negative experiences? And/or has anyone resized a ring by a very small amount like 0.25?

Hi Genevieve! I totally understand, it's so annoying when the ring spins around your finger and doesn't stay in place. Does Jared do resizing by 0.25? The only thing I've heard about resizing by only 0.25 is that a lot of place are hesitant to do it. I've also heard that sometimes the ring fits better once you have the wedding band on! I found a discussion where people were talking about resizing their rings and attached it below. I hope this helps!

I know, I’m not sure if they would do it or if it would work out well! But I’m so mad that they told me I was a size 5 when that’s clearly too big! They should’ve made it a 4.75 to begin with Smiley sad

Would the wedding band help even if I intend to wear the wedding band on the bottom and ER on top?

When FH proposed, my ring was a 4.75. After a couple of weeks, we decided it was too big and had it sized down to a 4.5. Honestly, I should have had it sized down to a 4.25 because it is still big. I thought about having it resized again but I was concerned about the integrity of the band since it is thin and has small diamonds. However, when I put my wedding band on, it fits pretty darn good. My e-ring is on top of my wedding band.

Yes I've heard it helps with sizing no matter whether it's on the bottom or top!

My e-ring is about .25 too big and it's also from Jared. They did say they would size it down for me if I wanted but suggested I wait until after the wedding to add the band. I'm glad I waited because once I added the band it keeps the e-ring in place and sometimes even feels snug. I wear the band on the bottom and the e-ring on top.

I had my engagement ring and wedding band soldered together. I had my e-ring sized down at a local jeweler because it was bigger than the wedding band. They had to resize my e-ring to make the two rings the same size. I’m a .25 But I don’t remember what the size is lol

That’s good to know! Is your wedding band shaped to fit with your e-ring or is it just a regular flat band?

Ive had my band sized down at Jareds twice, the second time by .25. No problems with it at all. My was always spinning and im so glad to have it the correct size. I don't see any reason not too except potentially waiting to get your wedding band

Does the wedding band make the e-ring fit tighter though even if they aren’t shaped to fit with each other?

My band is a regular band. It is not shaped to fit my e-ring but it is designed with the same sapphires and diamonds to coordinate with the e-ring. If all you need is about .25 in sizing I would wait until you wear it with your wedding band like I did. Like I said, I'm glad I waited because the band does make a difference.

Oh your engagement ring is similar to mine actually. I’m planning to get just a plain white gold band with it so hopefully that’ll work. Idk if you can see it very well but if you look to the left side of my finger in this pic you can see the gap between my finger and the ring 😣

I think you should wait until you get your bands!! It also seems like a lot of people are saying that once they got the band it was fineSmiley smile I did want to point out though that my ring was a 7 too!! And I got it sized down to a 5. It does spin around and when my hands are cold, gets pretty loose. I bought these silicone ring adjusters off of amazon and they helped a lot! No more spinning!

I had my engagement ring sized down after he proposed, and my husband had his wedding band sized down after we got married. Both from Jared, no problems with either resizing! They did them both for free and were super quick about it.
