Reschedule

Misty, on March 30, 2020 at 3:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
Good afternoon
What do you guys think of my wedding being in July and I can’t get a hold of anyone that is handling the suites and other things for the wedding? I have not sent out invites due to the virus and I’m really thinking I might have to reschedule but the venue is saying they are only closed till May. I’m so confused about what to do. Everyone keeps saying my date is far away but it’s actually not. Please help me with advice. My cousins is in June and her venue is rescheduling hers.

I completely understand how you feel. Mine is the beginning of July and with us needing the RSVP’s by mid-June and the social distancing now being extended until the end of April I’m starting to get worried again.

We plan on making a decision within 2-3 weeks and see where things are. Maybe see if you can hold out a little bit longer until you can make a better decision.
Or if you and your SO really are unsure, then see if you can reschedule now.

Personal opinion I absolutely think you’ll be fine. There are so many of us who rescheduled our weddings that were supposed to happen now to July, August, and September. Businesses can not last being closed for months. If you look at China for instance, they’re opened back up. So that took 3 months. Which means end of May, for us if that’s what happens with us as well. And they are saying there are studies that the warm weather will decrease this virus(like the flu).

I would wait to reschedule. See how things look at the end of April. Also wanted to point out that many hotel staff has been laid off due to lack of booking right now. My wedding coordinator (my venue is a hotel ballroom) has been laid off temporarily because of this situation. They still have an event manager who is now functioning as a manager for the hotel as well and the main manager there; but a lot of their staff has been laid off for the time being.

I’m beginning of July as well. I’m going to wait until this next quarantine is suppose to end, April 30th and make a decision from there. If it gets extended again, I will then look into rescheduling my date.

I personally think you will be just fine!! I know with the news and the constant posts on here about postponing have you extremely worried, but I really think this will be over in June! April-May are suppose to be the worst months of this, please stay safe, but I think you should be perfectly fine with your current date! Good luck!!

This post has been a serious blessing, all the brides have been so supportive and loving. I want to thank you all that have helped me and other July brides calm down, I know everything is uncertain but seeing how other brides think this will get better really helps. Hopefully we'll get to have the wedding we've worked so hard on planning and enjoy it with our loved ones but above everything that we get to marry the person we love.

Hi Misty! Across the board it seems like July couples are understandably anxious, but keeping their original plans and just watching and waiting for now. Proactively reviewing vendor contracts and thinking about what plan B could look like has also been helpful for personal peace of mind!

FYI - We've started gathering initial resources in our COVID-19 Wedding Support Central, and I've also seen a lot of July brides connecting in this discussion: July 2020 Weddings!
