When is everyone requesting time off from work for your wedding, honeymoon, or both? I will be taking off 8 business days and am wondering when is the best time to put in my request. I was thinking February is enough time to get ahead of everyone else planning their summer vacations. My job is pretty flexible as long as I let them know.
Thanks!

I would say as soon as you have the details i'd put in for it, even if it's far in advance. I used to work in human resources and we always appreciated knowing that sort of thing as soon as possible! My fiancee is a plumber and is on call one week a month. In general I know what week that will be but it does change depending on vacations, so as soon as the venue is set i'm having him let the bosses know.

Interesting development from my previous comment...I asked for my time off today and had requested about a week and a half. Apparently, I HAVE to take a full 2 weeks off in order for my work to be covered ( I work in a state hospital in an admissions unit ). If I do not and I take less time, I will be BEHIND for whatever duration I miss. It is already a problem for people who are technically getting covered where their work doesn't actually end up getting covered, so I took the full two weeks and I'm just crossing my fingers it actually gets covered. I know a lot of people will naturally get behind in their jobs but it is near impossible to catch up where I work if you are out that long. The last thing I want is to be thinking about how far behind I would be during my wedding and honeymoon!

Wedding and honeymoon for me is in janauary, I put my requests in September, I’m going to be gone for 12 days! 1 week paid, and well the rest just regular days off. Cause I work retail hours (I’m a hairdresser).

That is interesting that you HAVE to take a certain amount of time. Now, are you in a position to where you can ask coworkers in your department to cover for you or help you out a little while you're gone? Unfortunately, I do worry about how behind I'll be. My manager can help me out a little but I'm not looking forward to all of the emails I'll return to. From the Thanksgiving holiday alone, I had 550 emails! Smiley sad lol

Getting time off in my work isn’t an issue and I work for a massive institution so I requested 10days of as soon as our online system would allow me.
I logically could have waited a year to book it off but rather have it ticked off the list
