Requesting Time Off

Angerra, on November 25, 2018 at 10:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 45
When is everyone requesting time off from work for your wedding, honeymoon, or both? I will be taking off 8 business days and am wondering when is the best time to put in my request. I was thinking February is enough time to get ahead of everyone else planning their summer vacations. My job is pretty flexible as long as I let them know.
Thanks!

Put in your requests to be off as soon as you can that way there is no debate with another person for the same dates. Start now if you can.

I would say as soon as you know what days. The further out you tell them, the better.

As soon as you can! I have to wait until next years school calendar comes out Smiley winking . If its decided with the earlier start date I will have to take the first 3 days of teacher back to work days off and eat up my personal days right off the bat. If they go with the later (only by a week) start date then I dont have to report back until the Tuesday after the wedding, which means I could take 1 or 2 days and we could do a short honeymoon. Either way I will be emailing my superintendent as soon as I know!

At my job they require us to put in our requests in November for the following year, so I already had to put in for my September of 2019 wedding. You can never be too on top of it for this kind of thing. If you know now, then definitely put in ASAP.

I'd put a request in as soon as possible just to make sure that you get it!

Totally depends on your job. I am gonna put mine in the calendar tomorrow (10 month notice) I got verbal confirmation that I’m okay to do it but I am gonna put it in writing for my team. I’m taking 12 business days

I’m taking three weeks total but since I’m a nurse it’s only a total of 9 days lol it’ll be the week before the wedding, the week for our honeymoon and then the week after we return from our honeymoon.

I put my time in as soon as I knew our plans (I work at a very small company so I wanted to give plenty of notice). I'm taking the week before and after the wedding off (8 business days)

My work does vacation time by the calendar year, so I can't put mine in until the first of the year and my wedding is in February. I wish I didn't have to leave it so late but my boss is super flexible so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm only taking off two or three days around the wedding, we won't be taking our honeymoon to later on in the year but I'm planning on asking off as soon as that's booked because we'll be gone for 2ish weeks.

I would say as soon as you know. My and my FH’s computer systems at work won’t let us enter the days off yet but we told our bosses in July 2018 that we’d be needing the days off for June 2019

We are allowed to do it six months ahead. The real challenge is that my FH is graduating in three weeks from the police academy and looking for a job now. Depending on his employment we may or may not have time for a honeymoon :/ I’m probably going to just have to ask for days, and then release them if I don’t plan on using them when we get closer. I also just started working abou 8mnth ago so I have to be careful about my time lol

I've submitted it in writing already to my work, and my husband already has it in the calendar for his job (military). We will be taking a week for the wedding (traveling to Panama City, FL) and we'll be coming back for a few days before we leave for our honeymoon to St.Lucia the week after our wedding! My main concern is school, which I've already given my program director a heads up, and they seem to be willing to work around it. All in all I'd only really miss a few days of work/ school.

Long story short, let them know as soon as possible, at least verbally if you can't actually put in your time yet. At least that way they'll be expecting it.

I always put my stuff in as soon as I know. When I onboarded in January it was the first thing I did, and I also already have next year’s vacation on the calendar.

I am a teacher and I am taking two days off before Thanksgiving break, one of which I won't get paid for. Then we're going on our honeymoon over Christmas break. We'll sign new contracts in May and then I'll put it in the system the first teacher work day in July. That should be enough time. We don't get paid for days we take off before break anyway so what are they gonna say?
