Rentals... how many?

JennRo, on February 28, 2011 at 7:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

We're planning on 70-80 guests for our outdoor wedding at home. I am looking for some kind of idea of much china, flatware and glasses I am going to need to rent. The caterer we like will include paper and plastic, but... I don't what that.

We are expecting the same amount and here are our numbers:

    80 Dinner Plates

240 Saucers (dessert, apps, and salad)

170 forks (2 forks per person with a few extra in case someone drops one)

160 drink glasses (2 per person)

30 coffee cups (that's just an estimate on our part)

Yikes, I am just looking at the Rentals Invoice that is part of my catering fee. I am expecting 60 people and she only has 60 of each. I think I need to call my caterer. I just assumed she would provide the extras, not me. ?? See what assuming does???

Ahh....Crystals... Thank you for that clarification. Yes, our caterer is coming into our venue and bringing a staff of 2, for a total of 3 people, and the rentals. They are actually arriving at 12:00 for a 4:30 ceremony. They are even doing DOC and decorating. They plan on staying at 10:00 at the latest. Yes, the venue has a dishwasher.

Our cater put 30 place settings in the contract but had lots of extras. Ours was buffet and the waiters cleared plates when people went up for more food. So I think they know to have more actual plates than what is in the contract. I believe that if you get your own plates you need to remember to plan for more.

I would go with extras if you don't have anyone hired to wash dishes. Do you have anyone to fill the buffet?

Also consider getting insurance for that day. If a guest hurts themselves on your property, you are liable and you can be sued for a hefty amount of money.
