Rehearsal Dinner Pizza Party???

Kelly, on October 28, 2013 at 4:47 PM Posted in Planning 1 23

No seriously...Is it really cheap to do pizza or qdoba catering for a rehearsal dinner? I'm getting married at the Rusty Pelican in Tampa and we can't do an actual rehearsal there because they have weddings on Friday nights, so really it's just dinner. I'm going to pair up the bridesmaids and groomsmen myself and just briefly go over what everyone can expect.

My FH's father is giving us a lump sum for our honeymoon so the $$ will be coming out of that fund for the rehearsal.

The least expensive I've found is $26/person at a local restaurant, but with 30 people it's basically a mini-wedding!

I'm planning on a pizza party! I really can't afford a fancy rehearsal dinner especially when it isn't even the main event!

I think it's whatever works for you! We're getting married July 5th so a lot of local places we would have liked to have our dinner at are closed due to the holiday. FH said he might want to do a backyard BBQ (catered) which would be totally fine with me. Low-key and relaxed, sounds just right for us!

Go for it!! Honestly, do what you want to do. Chipotle does catering as well (I just love them so much...)

We're doing a fish fry. My friend is doing Popeye's. I think a casual food rehearsal dinner is fun. People get to be relaxed and save the formal for the next day.

We are renting the banquet room at our favorite pizza place. $50 to rent it, and just ordering a handful of pizzas and pitchers of beer from the bar. Low key and pretty inexpensive.

I have no idea yet, but I'm thinking pizza because we have access to the Hall the night before for decorating... So pizza and tulle party is more like it. Lol no big deal to me

If pizza is what you want then go for it.

We did sirloin steak and chicken breasts with mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls for $10.99 a person from Texas Roadhouse. It came in the large silver aluminum pans that went into the oven to say warm. You can check out some the local restaurants in your area to see what can be picked up to go versus having it catered.

Yes!! I've been in a few weddings where they just did casual pizza & salad, a few coolers of beer, and that was it. So much fun. There's a pizza place chain in Michigan that does parties with unlimited food. Depending on what you get, like pizza & salad, or pizza & pasta, it's only like $8 a person.

FH & I will probably do something similar (FH's parents are graciously paying, but we agree it will just be casual & cheap). FH says he wants to do his own BBQ, but I'm pretty sure that's just because he wants an excuse to buy a professional-grade smoker.

I definitely want to do pizza. FH's parents are paying though so if they want to do something fancier, that's cool too.

I think it's a great idea! Personally, I love the idea of fun and casual rehearsal dinners where everyone can just relax before all of the formality of the wedding day.

That's exactly what I'm doing lol it's less expensive and less intense! At the resort where getting married there is a pizza place in walking distance so we don't have to go far!

I decided that we are doing the rehearsal day of and so after the rehearsal I am going to do sandwiches and light snacks while getting ready. (We get the ceremony/reception venue for the full day so that works). It may seem strange to do the rehearsal same day but I have a few reasons. 1. The night before the wedding is a yearly memorial for a late friend of my fiancee (we met at the memorial so I don't want to skip it next year). 2. The venue is about 1 1/2 hour drive for some of the members of the wedding party. 3. One of my bridesmaids (who is also the mother of the flower girl) and my mother tend to be late for everything. This way everyone that needs to be there will be onsite hours before they need to be there. That may seem sneaky but better than causing actual drama.

I say go for it! Everyone's going to be all fancy the next day, there's no reason you can't be more relaxed and casual the night before. We are doing our rehearsal dinner at the one hall at the church that they normally do coffee hour and stuff in. We're having it catered by Dickey's BBQ. Beef brisket, bbq chicken and a bunch of sides. I told everyone dress comfortably. I'm really looking forward to it!!

I originally talked about having my rehearsal dinner catered by Popeye's... (fried chicken) I was only (kind of) joking... actually would have loved that too lol

Um I have never heard of this but I'm glad you posted it! W're having budget issues and we havent even accounted for the rehearsal dinner, so unless someone else offers to pay, I will probably go this route!! It sounds like a good plan! Plus FH and I loveee pizza Smiley smile

My FH is getting Chick-fil-a (his like, favorite restaurant) to cater. Then we will have the groom's cupcakes with his sports teams and drinks from Costco. Very casual and very inexpensive Smiley smile

Ha. There's a Sloppy Pelican in St Pete. lol.

We did pizza for our rehearsal. A local place around us does a pizza/pasta buffet for 10 bucks a person. It was amazing.

We're having a laid back BBQ for mine. The wedding will be enough "formal time" for our group. I think it's nice to do something where everyone can just hang out and be relaxed. I think you should go for it!

We did our rehearsal lunch at a pizzeria here in Tampa, Alfonso's Pizzeria. They also do catering (ziti, lasagna, etc.) You might want to check them out: www.alfonsospizzeria.com -- fair warning, the website is basic but the food is delicious and homemade.
