Rehearsal + dinner for a Sunday wedding

1Sooner.fan, on August 9, 2016 at 12:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

We are planning to have our mid-morning wedding on Sunday, May 21st. It is a lot cheaper that way, and it just worked out better with our preferred venue.

The problem is that I'm not sure when we'd do a rehearsal. I know we technically don't -need- a rehearsal, but several of the people who we hope will be in our wedding party have mentioned how much easier it is when they've had them. (we were in a wedding with them this past weekend and they all agreed that they were glad to have a rehearsal).

The venue is booked for the Saturday before, so that evening is out.

The rehearsal for that wedding will probably be on Friday, so that leaves Thursday for us. The issue is that most of my family are from out of town, so they probably won't be here yet.

What should we do? Have it on that Thursday and just fill in the family members who weren't there? See if we can get there early and do it Sunday morning, but then not have a dinner?

I'm having a Sunday wedding as well.. work with the event coordinator to set up a time. I was able to get my rehearsal on a Saturday in between events for the venue.

The venue is booked from 10:30 AM until 1:30 AM on Saturday so that doesn't really leave me any time.

But thanks for that suggestion. I'll definitely be contacting the coordinator and asking what she would suggest.

Shot in the dark, but can you wait to schedule the rehearsal and get a feel for when people will be in town? Maybe shoot for an early Friday slot. Rehearsals aren't long, the coordinator should be able to do more than 1 in a day.

We had a Sunday wedding and had the rehearsal Saturday morning followed by a rehearsal lunch.

You don't need to have the rehearsal in the venue. You can have it somewhere else the day before.

Could you have the rehearsal on Saturday at 9:30am and then do brunch?

We ran into the same problem since our wedding is on a Sunday, we're doing the rehearsal on Thursday and my venue coordinator said she could give the three girls that won't be there a crash course the morning of the wedding. It'll all work out either way so I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Also, I had my venue booked starting at 1:00pm, but there was still a Rehearsal in the chapel from 3-4pm (our wedding was at 6pm).

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll talk to the venue coordinator and see if we can figure out a plan.

The reason I didn't want to wait until closer to come up with options is that I haven't booked the venue yet, so I wanted to go over my options with the coordinator before I have already paid for it.

We're in the same boat. They offered us a Thursday night rehearsal, but a lot of the bridal party won't be there till Friday afternoon. Turns out, Saturday morning is free! We're having a late morning rehearsal with lunch afterwards.

So, your venue can't do two rehearsals on Friday? You might just discuss with the venue and see if it's a possibility.

We are having a Friday rehearsal for a Sunday wedding. The rehearsal dinner will be on Saturday. I know with our venue, there is another wedding on Saturday, and their rehearsal is also on Friday.

We're having a Sunday evening wedding and I was wondering the same thing. We're guaranteed one hour of rehearsal at our venue and I know they've booked a Saturday wedding so I'm interested to see how they'll be squeezing us in. I know the chapel only opens an hour and a half before the ceremony time so I'm guessing they'll probably offer for us to rehearse in the morning or early afternoon. Your coordinator will be able to assist with this before you book the venue. Good Luck!
