REHEARSAL DINNER, but NO rehearsal.

Anonymous, on December 23, 2012 at 6:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Our venue will be booked the night before, so we can't do a rehearsal until the day of. Do we still have a "rehearsal dinner"?

You don't have to. But some people still have a welcome dinner to welcome the bridal party, out-of-town guests, or even all guests. It's up to you.

Have the rehearsal dinner, don't worry about the rehearsal. Almost none of my couples do and those who do have a quick run through on the day. It's walking and standing

If you want to, go ahead and have one-- it is a nice chance to see some of your closer family/friends in a less chaotic setting. If you'd rather save the money, or skip Yet Another Event, then skip it.

Great question! I was thinking about doing a dinner without the rehearsal. Our bridal party is four people....not too much to rehearse.

The purpose of the rehearsal dinner is to thank your wedding party and others who have helped for being apart of your day. I would host a dinner anyway and call it a thank you dinner or something.

We don't need a rehearsal as there is no bridal party, but we are having the immediate families and out of town/state guests together for pizza the night before because they have never met.

We are just going to rehearse, but not have a dinner. Our wedding party is small.

Celia and Kasey, I adore you two. My poor fiance has been to THREE weddings, and the only traditional one was my cousin's this past spring. SO he didn't even know what a rehearsal dinner is. I know they're a tradition, but seem like a lot of work! Our wedding party is small, our budget is small, our venue is all in one place, and it's going to be simple. One less thing we have to worry about! Instead of a formal Rehearsal dinner, maybe we'll just do a Thankyou dinner, too. I think it would be more fun, anyway... instead of going through the whole ceremony before we actually go through the whole ceremony!! I'm sure it's something that is easy enough to discuss... I don't do well in dress rehearsals LOL!!
