I'm personally not doing one but I don't want any gifts. If you need or want anything than you should register.

We did one. It had been a long time (over 30 years) since my first marriage, and there was a lot of stuff that had worn out by then. And NotFroofy had never been married before. However, we took the approach (expressed on our website) that this was only for those who really wanted to give a gift, and that it was fine to turn up without one.

We didn't because we had a DW and felt their prescence was present enough. Much to our sincere embarrassment, the overwhelming majority of our guests gave us money or gift cards. We often worry if that was in response to our not registering. Since we can't possibly discuss it with our guests, we will never know.

I dont think there are any steadfast rules. Do what you feel is right.

It's not inappropriate or anythign to do another registry. I would say that, if I went to aweeidng and got a gift for a couple then they divorced and one of them remarried, I would probably still get the person a wedding gift, but I honestly wouldn't spend as much as I did before. It also depends on what type of wedding and the gifts you got before. I would say to just keep it simple and don't ask for anything extremely pricey that a couple just starting out would aks for (like a compelte china set or something.)

Emily Post says to go for it and makes some good points:

People will want to give you gifts, so the registry might really help them out. I can't even show up empty handed to my friends' kids' birthday parties when they beg us not to bring gifts. These days I bring an obnoxious musical card, a bottle of scotch and a giant balloon. Smiley smile I could never show up empty handed to a wedding. It would physically hurt me.

Also IMO - just b/c it's your second marriage doesn't mean it's any less of a big deal! Unless you're remarrying the same person or your first marriage was just a couple years ago, I think you're entitled to the same rites of passage as any other bride.

    Happy planning!

This is my 2nd marriage, but FH first, so we are definitely doing a registry. The # of marriages you've had should never be a concern of any guests. Whether it's registry, wedding style (some old-fashioned people could comment on modern weddings) or whathave you, guests should never say anything about this being your 2nd marriage. So go for it

This is our first marriage, but we're both 40 and have everything we could possibly need. On our website we put no gifts please, but also added links to 3 of our favorite charities if people would like to give something in our honor.

Absolutely go for it. The only case when I would be reluctant to do it is if you are marrying the same person for the 2nd time, and you have the same guest list. Otherwise, as a guest I would want to give you something no matter which wedding it is.

We're marrying for the 2nd time. We have everything and more. I feel registering is unnecessary HOWEVER people will buy gifts. Do I want aqua goblets or something that goes in our home. I think if someone wants to gift us, giving them an idea is kind. We thought about registering at REI for more gear. Otherwise I don't think gift cards are bad.
