Refunds at David's Bridal

I purchased a wedding dress at David's Bridal, and am having serious second thoughts about it. I tried on only one other dress... I felt beautiful in the dress at the time, but looking back at pictures now I see that it is not nearly as flattering as the sales person made me feel it was... That little bit of doubt has been made worse by a situation I am now dealing with... I apparently have to come pick up the dress by tomorrow. The VERY rude lady I spoke to this morning said she "didn't have space for it" and that if I didn't pick it up they would have to pack it in a box and stick it in their warehouse, and they might not be able to find it when it came time for my alterations appointment. WHAT??? So now I have doubts about this dress and I am pissed and don't want to give them any more of my business. From what I can see from other reviews they won't refund my purchase of the dress (I have not asked them for that yet). Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'll get the pictures from my sister and post them. As far as my issues with their service, my issue isn't that they asked me to pick up the dress. It's the fact that the first consultant led me to believe that in order to get the dress in and altered in time for the wedding I needed to order it asap. I wasn't told I would have to pick up the dress and bring it back for my alterations. She told me they would get the dress in, do the alterations, and at my final fitting a week or two before the wedding I would take the dress. I was told a similar story when I called on Friday night. My biggest issue is the rudeness I dealt with on Saturday. The woman I spoke to said she would box up the dress if I didn't pick it up and they may not be able to find it again. It was incredibly unprofessional.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I should of payed attention to the policy a little more closely. I stupidly bought a veil and headpiece before I even knew how I wanted my hair. Now, I most likely won't use either of them so I'll probably end up selling them on Ebay or something.

Did the alterations department tell you they would hold it? Make sure you talk to someone in alterations, not in sales. Two completely different entities. From what a friend of mine told me when she worked there is that the alteration's department is usually independent from DB sales.

Why should it be their responsibility to store your dress? You keep saying it is bad service, but it isn't. They told you what will happen if you DON'T pick it up. Not liking their answer doesn't equal bad service/unprofessional. Pick up your dress. Exchange it or take it home and try and resell it. Or keep it and wear it. You could use the credit toward bridesmaid's dresses if you can't find a dress there.

The fact that db let's you exchange is kind of a big deal in the first place. Most places would not do that, and I seriously doubt you'd get a full refund anywhere.

    Example:

Kleinfeld's does not allow store credit or exchanges. Either you take the dress or you lose it

I hate to be a downer but it simply sounds like you fell for a sales person's trick - same as they do at normal retail stores. Those sales associates work on commission so they will say anything to you to make the sale - similar to a pair of jeans at express and a car. You should have done your research before buying the dress, specially with going to David's Bridal.

Sorry. Good luck. Stop looking at other dresses and go try yours on.

Did you not take people with you? Wouldn't they of told you if it looked bad? Maybe it's just the lighting in the pic

I picked up the dress yesterday and spoke to a manager, who was very nice. She actually told me they had similar complaints about the woman I spoke to on Saturday who was very rude, and that she was "taking steps to prevent the problem in the future"... I have alterations scheduled at another place that has great reviews, so I feel much better about the whole situation... Here are some pictures of the first time I tried the dress... Would love to hear thoughts on it...

I think it is very pretty & flattering on you. Alterations will also make a world of difference.

Thanks Alysha... I just feel like I look pregnant in that first picture... It may just have been the lighting and the way the fabric gathers...

I don't think you look pregnant at all! Is this your actual dress or a sample size? Remember, your dress will fit differently than a sample size.

Woo! We're dress twins. Once you have the alterations done you may feel a bit more confident in the dress. Also, I don't think you look pregnant at all. I think you look great!

Yeah, it's just the angle in the first pic. There shouldn't be any pro pics at that angle on your wedding day. It's a beautiful dress, flattering and I personally love the back. You're beautiful.

Thank you all! I'm usually guilty of buyers remorse, so it's really helpful to hear that the dress looks good... This was a sample dress, but in the same size as my actual dress. I'm sure the alterations will make it perfect. I'm feeling much better about my decision now Smiley smile

Katie you look beautiful. You don't look pregnant at all. The dress will stretch a bit and give a little room. Once it is altered and you're wearing all your undergarments it will be different.
