Red Roses, with Apple colored dress??

*alliecat*, on April 5, 2011 at 10:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I've always known I've wanted red roses for my wedding...so my colors are red, white, and black. I went to Davids Bridal and my girls tried on the Apple colored dresses and they are beautiful, now i dont know what to do with these red roses. 1st of all, they are not even the same red. I kinda dont mind having them wear black instead...(maybe with a red sash). but i just want to make sure it doesnt sound too much on the dark side. They are long dresses, and I'm having a church VERY formal traditional wedding. I've heard that black BM dresses are a "hot new trend" that wont look bad at all. what do you guys think about black dresses? ...Or the Apple color BM dresses with red roses. (oh and the bouquets not all red, theres Some white flowers in there too.) hehe

I think it'll look extremely elegant and beautiful! I LOVE black and red together. So if it's going to be a very formal wedding, I think black with red accenting will be perfect!

My sisters colors were Red, Black and White. I wore black, the Bridesmaids wore apple. We all had red roses.

What about more white, little red for them. Mostly red, little white for you?

I'm doing the same colors. I took a swatch in to see if with red roses and I didn't like it together very much. Plus, the flowers will blend into the pictures.

I'd suggest doing the same thing- take the swatch in and see it together to make your own decision.

We wore black dresses for my friends wedding in January and she had red roses for her flowers, with little rhinestone pins in each bouquet. It looked really pretty and elegant.

My colors are red, white, and black also. I have an Ivory dress with red accents and my bouquet will be mostly red with some white. My bridesmaids dresses are red and their bouquets will be mostly white with some red. The FG dresses are black and white and they will be tossing red and white rose petals. My FH and his groomsman will be wearing black straight leg jeans with white button up shirts (outside wedding) but my FH will also be wearing a black vest. There are many different types of red to choose from but I chose candy apple red. If your roses are darker you can go with a crimson red; just check with your store's color swatches against your flowers to see what goes.

One of my good friends got married last september, and her colors were red, black, and white. We had red dresses (they were from eden bridals, not db though). As you can see our roses weren't the exact color of the dress, but IMO they don't look bad.

My colors are deep red, chocolate and antique gold. The girls are wearing red dresses, so I went with gold bouquets that have only a few red flowers. I wanted the flowers and dresses to stand out, not blend together, in pictures. If your only colors are red, black and white and you want the girls in red. I would give them white flowers and carry red roses yourself.

Dragonfly's picture kind of shows how they will blend in unless you are at the perfect angle. In no way am I saying it looks bad, dragonfly please don't think I'm saying that, ya'll look beautiful. The one on the left, you have to look really hard to see the flowers.

Thank you ladies so much, always a big help! I think I'm going to go with the black dresses. And instead of red sash I'll go with white. I will defiantly have to take you up on that swatch idea. I'll be doing that this weekend...just to make sure! Smiley smile

It doesn't have to be the same red I think - but you could always have black roses for them instead of the red ones! That makes it a bit more dramatic.

Maybe do red sashes for the BM and a white sash for the MOH... or vice versa.

However, I love that red color! Obviously- I chose it as well. That color dress is one that can be worn again, for sure!
