This may be difficult honestly. Expect a photographer to be 10-15% of your budget. Most people spend between $1800-$3000

Allegra Anderson and Russell's photography have great recommendations from friends of mine but they're not at that price

Renee Williams is in your price but I was very disappointed in her photos and wouldn't recommend her

Hi- I'm in New Haven, CT and we hired a photographer for $2200. That's for 8 hours of coverage. We got one quote for 1800 but that guy wasn't our style. Others we liked were $3500+ so I feel like the 2200 was a deal for us.

You're in prime season, in an expensive area, and you are looking for a photographer at about less than a third of the norm, at a point in time when most good photographers will be booked.

Increase the budget. By whatever you need to in order to get a great pro.

Sorry, but you won't find a great photographer for that. If you're ok with that, try Thumbtack.

You can look on Craigslist for a photographer that's fairly new to photographer but thats a little risky.

I'm in CT for 4 hours of coverage ( were having a ceremony followed by cake and punch) were paying 1,500 . Her typical coverage of 8 hours with an engagement session is 3,250. Unless you hire someone who is new or isn't very good you won't get cheap.

I second craigslist. Find someone who does it on the side and has a good amount of experience. Review their portfolio, (very important) make sure you like their work. (Also Very important.) Believe it or not, you really do not have to spend 2000$ on photos. It's excessive....I think people have been suckered into thinking they need to blow thousands of dollars on photos. I'm not saying find someone with a camera that says "sure I take photos".., no, make sure they have wedding experience and make sure their photography is nice. But it really is excessive and society just accepts it. that's why they get away with charging thousands. Just my sentiment.

Justin Benson I met with him but didn't go with him he has great reviews and great work at a really affordable price. We ended up going with someone more expensive because he has worked our venue and my FH dad grew up with him, but give Justin a try he books up fast!

There are many photographers who will do hourly. Perhaps you could find one of them and keep the time down to about two hours. So ceremony, entrance, first dance, cake cutting and that's it. Having fewer high quality pictures seems more desirable to me than lots of low quality ones.

Edit: and one big family group shot.

That is going to be tough. Maybe contact the UConn photography department for a student photographer if you aren't picky about your photos.
