Reception venue that hold 500 guest... Ft Washington MD area

mrsTJL, on July 20, 2010 at 4:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hubby and I are getting married in the summer of either 2011 or 2012. We're having a Winter Wonderland themed wedding, with brown, blue and white as our color theme. Everything is going excellent in our planning process except... hubby and I can not find a reception venue that holds 500 people. We'd like a venue in which we'll be in charge of the decor and even if we can not decorate everything ourselves then we'll be able to decide how we want everything to look. Hubby and I have a guestlist of 450 guest (all people we've seen and spoken with in the past 2 month), 1 MOH, 1 bestman, 35 BMs and GMs, 8 flower girls, 1 ringbearer and both hubby and myself.

Someone please help us find the perfect reception venue...

Its a beautiful venue but $$$$$....if you have it go for it!

I emailed them & told them I had 200 - 250 guests...they wanted me to cough up $40000...I said no thanks & ended that convo quick!!

I think that only covered the hall, food & drinks

I'll email them and see what they're talking about... hubby think it'll be a good spot since our out of town guest will already be there and if anyone gets too drunk they can just rent a room, lol

There are a lot of venues in the area that can accommodate your guest and let you decorate .

    Martin Crosswinds,University of Maryland.

I would suggest picking up a Maryland Bride Magazine, they list all of the venues ,the capacity and a contact number!

WOW! 500 guests?! I'm not sure where you will find enough room for everyone?!

Have you tried to go on weddingwire.com or theknot.com and search venues by capacity?

Martins Camelot has a gorgeous room that holds up to 1000 ppl and it's not that expensive.

Might be chiming in a bit late, but if you are considering DC, you might want to consider:

Atlas Performing Arts Center. I think htat they should be able to accomodate you for a cocktail hour AND the reception. also, they have a list of preferred caterers you would choose from. Finally, it is a pretty blank slate to decorate with your theme. that could be pretty spectacular... Smiley winking

If you were to consider VA, there is a beautiful vineyard called Morais Vineyards that can hold 500. It is a brand new venue:
