Reception space decorating ideas for strange wall!

Cadence, on October 1, 2019 at 5:19 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 8

Hello! I have been thinking of a magnitude of ways to decorate my reception space but I wanted to ask you all! I have been considering hanging drapes across the ceiling or hanging drapes across the walls and just doing string lights across the ceiling.. I'm trying to hide parts of the wall. This is a relatively new space and I'm not sure why but they have a few of these random grey spaces on the walls and I'm not sure how to work with them. I'm not completely sure but I think there are 4-6 of these in the space. The good thing is that it will be dark during the reception, which may help, but they still look bad to me. Does anyone have any ideas??

I think draping along all of the walls is the best idea, and will make it all look cohesive. You could always do wall uplighting with your DJ too if you need more lighting.

You man the black part right? I think drapes and string lights would always help romanticize the space

I am definitely doing uplighting as well!

For the drapes, do you all have any experience with the different materials? I see that tulle is probably the cheapest option, but I'm worried it may be too thin. I still want the fabric to flow and look elegant, so I'm also looking at chiffon too..

I think your guests won't even notice, and you'd be wasting your money. But that's just my opinion. If you are already planning to do uplighting, and table decoration, that should be good enough to put the room into a party mood.

Guests hardly ever notice all the little things that we think are so important at the time. Save your money for something you want more.

I agree with this. Use your up lighting on the white parts of the walls and the gray areas will disappear into the darkness. Your guests won’t care.

This is almost exactly what I was going to say. I don't think it looks bad at all.

You could do a flower/greenery wall, like a backdrop! Fake or real, garlands or individuals, etc. Google it, they're gorgeous. Here is a few for reference (if you aren't a floral person you could do balloons, lights, etc)

You have convinced me! Smiley smile I think I'll do the uplighting and some string lights across the top and just not worry about the draping!
