Reception ideas

Andrea, on June 13, 2020 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Needing help with the flow of the reception. We aren’t big party people so we don’t want the overall feel over our reception to be centered around dancing or the need to entertain. However I don’t want it to be boring either. Any ideas?

Most people love to chat if they aren't dancing.

I would incorporate games then and make it more game themed. You can have games and a small dance floor with music for those that want to dance. Research reception games and there is stuff like corn hole, life sized jenga or checkers etc...

I went to a reception last year that didn’t have any of that. They just let guests mingle and then they had other little things like you can write down date ideas for them, advice, bucket list activities etc

You could cut it short if you are not big entertainers. The wedding I went to a couple years ago was short and to the point. Ceremony, dinner, 20 minutes of dancing, cake and we were out of there before 2 1/2 hours hit.

I would have a shorter reception if you don't want dancing or some form of entertainment. Personally, I love dancing at weddings so I would probably get bored with just sitting and talking for several hours.

Food stations can be fun and great since food needs to be provided anyway.
