Reception ideas during Covid

Laura, on April 1, 2021 at 6:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 5

How are you doing things differently due to Covid at the reception? We aren't sure right now if we will be able to dance so we are looking for alternative ideas. I also would like to hear about any creative ideas related to Covid issues. Thanks!

Hi Laura! We added significant dances to keep the open dancing to a minimum (ex: my groom danced with his grandmother, I danced with my Man of Honor). We played lighter music like Kenny G, Maxi Priest “Close” that were fun but not dance club music. We had a camera setup for our guests to say video messages to us through out the evening. We added an extra speech, my groom who thanked everyone. It was really wonderful!! Hope this helps ❤️

We aren’t planning on having a formal dance floor. We moved our event earlier in the day and will have an acoustic duo playing and have lawn games and possibly board games as well. It will be outside at a vineyard.

If there is no dancing, then guests are happy to mingle

Hi Laura! Some couples have decided to an extra speeches, performances, games (like the shoe game) or a photo slideshow to their wedding reception!!

You can also just skip the dancing and be fine! There will be good food & drinks and everyone can mingle. 🥂

Here are some great discussions you can check out with more ideas from other couples:

    Alternative entertainment to dancing/dj

    Covid vaccines, tests, guests, vendors

    covid safe wedding precautions?

Are y’all still having traditional weddings during the pandemic?

We’re doing lawn games and a DIY photo booth instead of dancing
