Reception food

Hello, has anyone came across the fact that they can't taste all the food offered for their wedding. Our venue did a group tasting with everyone for the year. We didnt get to try main dishes and this bothers me because we didnt like half the food served.

This would bother me. We actually didn’t go with one caterer because of it. I get why they do group tastings but it’s not personal and why would I want to try foods that won’t be served?

That would bother me. I wouldn't serve food unless we had tasted it.

Did you bring up with the venue that you didn’t like the food? Can you ask for a private tasting to make sure the dishes you want to choose can be executed properly? I know plenty of people who haven’t gotten to taste everything they served at their wedding at the tasting but none of those people didn’t like the food.

I did reach out and let them know at the tasting what food we disliked. I also emailed my coordinator after the wedding to let them know we didnt get to try all the food and they said they can't do anything able it. That it was to show us how the food is prepared, cooked and served. Because we are doing a buffet they don't do private tastings.

That's crazy that they won't let you do a separate tasting. Ours was buffet, but we still got to try the main dishes. We didn't get to try the appetizers which I had hoped to, but that wasn't as much of a concern. Is there like a manager or someone you could talk to because you definitely should be able to try the food you are serving.

We did not taste every single item of food served at our wedding, and everything turned out delicious on our wedding day. We tasted enough to know it was delicious and we wanted them to cater our wedding.

I’m not sure about this group tasting idea, that is a bit odd. I might would ask if you could schedule something more one on one.

Same, we were only allowed to try our choice of 2 of soups, salads, main entre, vegetables, and carbs. We were also able to try wine. But not hors d'oeuvres or desserts. Luckily, the food we tried was super good. But it would've been nice to at least try the hors d'oeuvres,

The sad part is the venue does the food. I have spoke to them about not being able to try the main dishes. They apologize but said there were no further tastings. It wouldn't be such a big deal if all the good was good. But sadly half the food was horrible which has me very concerned.
