Reception Floor Layout Plans

Emily, on March 14, 2019 at 3:56 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
I'm trying to get a floor plan for the reception and could really use some input. I will have the Bridal table on one end and on the opposite side of the room is the kitchen so the food will go on that end but I'm unsure on where to have the dance floor. I've seen:

1. where the dance floor in the middle of the room with everyone's tables surrounding it
2. Bridal table, everyone else's tables, dance floor then the buffet
3. Have the dance floor separating the bridal table and everyone else's tables.

Is there a best place to have the dance floor?

It would probably help if you can post a picture of your venue's space. This is really dependent on your venue as well as number of guests and how many tables you will have and type of table (round or rectangle or combined).

For my venue, it was a square room and I only had 40 guests so it made sense to have 3 long tables on either side of the room with the dance floor in the middle and the sweetheart table in between the rows of tables creating a U-shape. Here are some pics of my layout.

I agree with PP...need more details/pictures. However, going off your description I'd say it could be a matter of personal preference. Are you leaning towards one layout over another? The most recent wedding I attended had the bridal table then dance floor then guest tables (near the buffet).

I would say dance floor in the middle.

I do like it when the dance for is in the center, but as pp have said it really depends on the venue layout. I wanted to do dinner in the open section of our venue rk our dance floor is off to the side. Here’s our layout. Us, the eddjng party and their dates/family will be at the long rectangular table, the dance floor is the open space through the row of double doors (these will all be open making it essentially on space)

My venue is kind of an L shape so the head table and dance floor are in the middle and the rest of the tables are on either side

The picture with the chairs is the front area. I will have the bridal table near the farthest wall. The other picture is the back side of the (long rectangle) room where we will have the food. We are expecting to have almost 200 guests attending with about 28 round tables.

Can your venue help you? My wedding coordinator (provided by the venue) had already offered to send me sample floorplans so I can see how other people have used the space. She immediately was able to tell me the dance floor would go here if we were using a DJ and here if we had a band.

I've also been stalking local photographers who have done weddings at my venue to take a peek at how decor and set up was done
