Reception End time and Venue closing time

Tori & Chuck Curry, on June 9, 2020 at 12:13 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Our venue wants everything done and out by midnight.

When should our last song be for us to clean up our decor and pick up table linens.

How long does it take usually for a DJ to take down?

We have a friday wedding so were not starting the reception until 7:15pm giving only 2-2.5 hours of open dance if we end at 11:30pm. But is a half hour not long enough for DJ and small clean up?

Also, how long is/was your open dance?

TIA

I think we did open dance for 1.5 to 2 hours or so I can’t remember but I do have to say I remember taking maybe half an hour to clean cause there wasn’t much I took aha I just left everything there. But I will say you should ask your dj how long it would take them to clean up because that would help you figure out your timeline better.

    What Melle said.

It's best to talk to your DJ and your venue to see how much will need to be cleaned up, and how long that usually takes.

I actually have no idea how long it took my dj to tear down. I left before he did aha. But I know it took him over an hour to set up

I would listen to your DJ, but it will also depend on any decorations you have to take down that you want to keep. It's really easy to just tear things down and throw them away, but if you're wanting to save anything, then it'll take longer.

My venue has last call at 10pm, guest must be gone by 11pm, and all vendor clean up must be done at midnight. Our ceremony is 5:30 and the reception starts at 6. I would say you need a minimum of one hour for vendor clean up. You could also talk to your vendors and ask them how long it typically takes them to breakdown. If you have guests that are coming for the party I would also suggest considering starting your festivities a little sooner.
