Reception Dress

AEW, on August 1, 2019 at 2:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

Hi Hi

Is anyone thinking about or planning to switch dresses for their reception? I've heard about it and although it's not something I plan to do personally, just want to hear your responses. I saw someone on SYTTD shopping for one and it seems like they can cost the same, if not more than your actual wedding dress. But hey, if the dress fits . . .

I considered it. It does make it a lot easier to move around when you're in a shorter or just less bulkier dress.

I plan to wear THE dress as long as I can stand it on the big day but will have my elopement dress ready if I feel the need to change during the reception. We are getting legally married 2 days before the big event and I bought the sweetest little boho dress under $20 from Amazon. It is all about comfort and I may want that for that final hour of dancing and mingling.

Depends on your budget and if you think it is important to you. Ill be going to a bar after so obviously I will not be going in my gown lol, but I will be changing to something more casual and white.

I guess because everything is gonna be on the beach (wedding and reception), I didn't think about changing. I was sure to consider that when I went shopping and the dress I picked will allow me to be comfortable and enjoy the entire day. But it can't hurt to have something on stand-by I guess.

IvyandKris has the right idea - maybe I should check out Amazon and some other places to see if I can find something cute for later if I need it.

I bought one that was going to be my elopement dress(but now we’re having a wedding), I don’t want to wear it for the reception now but I might wear it to the afterparty or just sell it. I guess I’ll decide the day of. It’s a gorgeous tea length and I would feel so pretty but I’m really in love with my puffy dress.

This is a gorgeous dress! I see why it's hard for you to decide.

I know it’s so pretty! But my ballgown was literally my dream dress and my FH actually bought it for me, so I absolutely don’t want to change out of my ballgown. The afterparty is still a possibility because it’d be easier to walk around.
I wish I had an excuse to wear it after the wedding. Smiley sad

This is the best part, I wish I could put it on my ballgown. That reception dress is so sparkly!

I plan on wearing my actual wedding dress as long as I can that day, haha! I've known several people who do change into another white dress that is still gorgeous, but a lot more simple. Most people do it because it's easier to dance & move around at the reception. If I were to do that though, I wouldn't spend as much as I did on my actual dress. It doesn't have to be fancy, just as long as you're comfortable!

Not me personally. I feel like if I’m only wearing my dress once I want to get maximum use out of it lol.

I will be changing into a reception dress just because my dress is fit to 5 in heels and I do not want to spend all night in those shoes. Fh is 6' 3" and I am 4' 11" so I wanted our height to be "decent" for the ceremony and pictures but opted to change dresses and into flats when the dance floor opens up. I'd hate to go to the ER on my wedding night with a broken ankle.
