I’m a home seamstress and I’ve been thinking about doing a reception dress and a ceremony dress. I’m restoring my moms cathedral length, beaded perfect lace dress for the ceremony. But I just keep picturing a handkerchief hem, tea length dress to exit in. But I really don’t want to take time away from my guests to change?

Did anyone do the whole outfit change thing and did you have regrets?

I didn't do it but honestly I find it a good idea for those who have the budget for it. Being able to move around in a smaller or shorter or just overall an outfit that makes it easier for you to move in, is a good idea

My hubby & I changed into pirate outfits for our reception (during cocktail hour), no regrets! We wore our wedding attire for first look pics, ceremony, and post-ceremony photos.

Your mom's dress sounds gorgeous! so special that you will restore and wear it, do you have a picture?
If you have the budget (or time if you plan on making it) to get a second dress, and it's something you want to do, I say go for it!
