It is normal to change out of your wedding dress after the ceremony into an outfit for the reception. Just so your dress doenst get ruined?

It's not uncommon. Personally, I wanted to stay in my wedding dress as long as possible since I'll never get to wear it again. But lots of brides opt for a reception dress/outfit.

I have a reception dress just in case I get too hot in my dress. Long sleeves and as of right now ball gown but will be an a line. I'm assuming I'll get a little warm so I'll probably end up changing but not till all the first dances and other wedding traditions are done with.

Normal ! It’s common because it also means you can change into a dress that’s easier to move in

It has become a popular trend. I, however, did not want to take my wedding dress off! I loved it so much and wanted to wear it for as long as possible. I wore my wedding dress all day/night long and it is not ruined.

At this moment in time, I cannot sit in my dress and I don't think I will be able to. I plan to wear it for the ceremony and walking the Vegas strip. Then it's off to the hotel room to have my new husband help me into my party dress!! But who knows! Maybe I will slim my thunder thighs down enough to be able to then all bets are off Smiley smile

Why do you care if your dress gets ruined? This is literally the only day in your life you get to wear it, why wouldn't you wear it all day?

I never wanted to take my gown off! It did get pretty heavily soiled by the end of the night, but I paid $300 to have it cleaned and preserved and they did a beautiful job.

Also, the reasons my dress got dirty: No one came with me to my fitting when the salon did the bustle and no one could figure it out during my cocktail hour. I said forget it, took off my painful heels anyway and slipped on the slide slippers that I wore while getting ready. So the gown was about three inches long and dragged on the ground. Our cocktail hour was on a rooftop terrace and the walk from our ceremony to the cocktail hour was a pathway that went along the resort's pool. Had I kept my shoes on and bustled the dress, I don't think it would have gotten nearly as dirty.

I am not changing. My dress is beautiful and comfortable. I am not willing to spend the kind of money that wedding dresses cost to only wear it for a couple hours. I am wearing it until I absolutely have to take it off! Then after the wedding I'm repurposing it into a cocktail dress so I can keep wearing it!

I plan on changing. I have a ballgown and I think I'd be more comfortable for the reception in something less bulky. I will be wearing a jumpsuit and sneakers if all goes as planned.

It’s very common in my area. For people of European ancestry and Caucasians in the US, it used to be only 1 outfit but recently it’s become popular to do more. In my culture, brides have 4 or 5 different outfits throughout the wedding day in but recently people have become more relaxed and I’ve seen them do only 2. So one side is increasing the number of outfits and the other is decreasing, we’re meeting in the middle! Not to mention it’s fun and you feel so beautiful wearing different dresses.
