Reception dinner on 2 separate floors

Roodog, on August 25, 2019 at 6:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hi all!

We have the option to have all of guests on one floor for our reception dinner but it might be a little tight and make things take a bit longer, we would also have to break down some tables after dinner to make more room for dancing.

The alternative would be to have guests on separate floors (they'd be to see/hear us on TV screens) but I dont want anyone to be offended if they're not on the "main floor." This would be JUST for dinner, no speeches or cake cutting would go on while guests are on separate floors if we did go this route.

Any thoughts? All I can think about is the negative....

Personally I think everyone should be together. Even if you have to cut down your guest list a bit to have enough room. I wouldn’t want to see things on a tv screen.

Our reception is on 2 floors. We are doing dances right after cocktail hour on the first floor before everyone sits down for dinner. Raise a couple of toasts then while everyone is on the bottom floor and then everyone can disperse to their tables to eat. Cutting the cake right before the dance music starts on the bottom floor to encourage people to get up and start Dancing.

If my father in law keeps inviting people then we will have to do this. I really don’t want to but I need about 20 more people to RSVP no. We are also looking at having a tight space and breaking down tables. I’m working on not worrying about it until we get all the RSVPs in. 😬🤞🏼

    Hi there Roodog!

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community.

All the guests you invite may not RSVP yes, so you may still be able to fit everyone in the room. How many guests are you inviting and how many are you estimating will RSVP yes?

What is a comfortable capacity for the room?
