Reception blankets??

Cyndi Lou, on January 4, 2017 at 10:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 30

Is there anyone that is doing the throw blankets at their reception? We're planning a new years eve wedding and I've thought that it might be a nice idea for our guests. If you did the reception blankets how many did you provide compared to your guest list? If you were considering doing them and decided not to, what was your deciding factors?

TIA!

Blankets because they'll be cold? Are you getting married outside in December?

No- I didn't do blankets- because it seems nonsensical- and way to much of an effort.

Blankets for???? Is the reception outdoors and they'll need blankets to keep warm? Are you giving out blankets as favors? Is your reception a sleepover? Elaborate

Why would you do blankets? Are you doing a reception outside on NYE somewhere it would be cold?

As I stated in the OP the wedding is new year eve, so yes December, yes in case they got cold, no not a sleepover, just a bunch of elderly guests (I'm 33, FH is 43, parents are in their 60's, grandparents in their 90's)

No, not outdoors, but it will be at a house with nice grounds. We may get snow, we may be in the 60's, those were the last two new years eves, so it's hard to anticipate weather.

If its not outside, there is no need for blankets.

But everything is inside, right? With heat?

Does the house not have heat? Normally if you have lots of people in a small space, it gets very warm. I can't see throws being used.

I'm getting married in March, in a place that I can almost guarantee will have snow and very cold (we're taking freezing or lower) temperatures - and we're using this thing called heat at our venue. I wouldn't ever think I needed to provide blankets to my guests.

I am also often cold, as is my mother - so we bring sweaters.

I've never seen blankets given out as favors, but maybe you can do one per couple if you decide to move forward with that idea?

Make sure you have enough for everyone. My mom was recently at a wedding that was partially outdoors (in South carolina....in dec). The temp was hovering around 40 degrees and they ran out. Have enough for all your guests!

Unrelated psa: outdoors in December is dumb no matter where you are in the states.

Yes there is heat, it's a historic house, no way to tell how drafty it may be though. Just finished renovations though, I suspect that it won't be drafty, but I never know. I do know I was cold at the last two winter events his family hosted, so I was trying to think of guest comforts. I guess it will be a little add on if there is still money in the budget at the end of the planning process.

I mean I guess you could have a few throw blankets for people who want them, but.....I don't really see the need for them though as long as you're indoors

Oh my goodness Mrs Oz, S.Carolina in Dec and it was outdoors Smiley sad I was stationed in S.Carolina on the coast for a year, they have cold winters (at least the year I was there). I bet it was cold.

If you're worried about comfort, get space heaters. I recommend the oil filled ones. They generate a lot of heat in smaller spaces, no noise, and are unobtrusive.
