Reception (2nd) Dress...

Eyonna, on August 21, 2019 at 2:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 32

Hi all - just wondering if any brides are changing into a second dress for the reception. I'm considering it but don't want to totally outshine my actual wedding dress. What options are you looking to change into? Jumpsuit, short or long dress?

I considered it. In my culture everyone changes into a cultural dress.

I have one I was going to wear but I don’t want to pay for more alterations so I’m just going to sell it and wear my ballgown all night. I absolutely love reception dresses though, especially sparkly ones. This is a close up of the sparkles on mine! I also think jumpsuits look really cool with beach weddings.

If I had the money for it I would probably get a 2nd dress for the reception. you will be taking so many pictures in both the dresses and will have the memories forever so don't feel like you will outshine your 1st dress!

my dress is expensive and I'm only going to wear it once so I'm keeping mine on all night long!

Since we are actually eloping and having a ceremony with reception later I will bring my elopement dress to the venue in case I want to change. I don't think I will, but it's nice to know I have the option.

Agreed! I love the second dress idea with the sparkles and all which is why I'm kind of considering it. Its still early for me, but my mind is swirling lol. The detail in your dress is very pretty. Anything with sparkle makes me feel better lol

I bought a reception dress just so I dont have to wear 5 in heels all night. I will however change back into my wedding dress for our send off because I absolutely love my wedding dress and I want all my money's worth without killing my feet or breaking an ankle dancing.

LOL, I thought about that option as well since I'm only wearing the dress once...why change into something else that I will also only wear once and both will not be for a long period of time.

I’m with you on the sparkles! My wedding dress has a glitter underlining in the skirt so I’m still getting sparkle. I think reception dresses look great with a theme, like a long sexy glitter dress for old hollywood, or a tea length poofy dress for garden party. Sky’s the limit, have fun with it!

So my theme is black and white masquerade so I plan on changing into a dress for the reception but haven't found a style just yet that I prefer. My ceremony dress is a big white ball gown and I love it but I am afraid I won't be able to dance in it. I am a huge dancer and want to make sure I can LOL I was thinking about doing a black short dress with a coattail style skirt. There are so many options that I know you can find something that you will enjoy! It's up to you! I don't think you will outshine your wedding dress if you find something you like and want to wear it!

What a cool theme! The coattail skirt dress will be a great second dress to coincide with your ballgown. Good luck on your search for it.

I bought a second dress to change into for my reception and never ended up changing. Once I had my dress on and makeup and felt amazing I didn’t want to take it off.

I personally don't really like the dress change. We aren't having a religious ceremony so it's going to be pretty short. I can't imagine spending a lot of money on one dress just to change into another. That being said I'm hoping I can find a wedding dress that I love but is also comfortable enough to dance in all night! I love sheath dresses but may go with A-Line since they look more comfortable!

BUT! There are dresses that have those slip things (like the Hailey Paige dresses). So you can take it off for your reception and it looks like you have two differnt dresses!

I considered changing into another dress but I love my dress and spent a lot of money on it so I’m going to stay in as long as I can!

I bought a second shorter dress to change into in case I get too hot since our wedding is outside. It was only $28 from amazon so it’s not a big deal if I don’t wear it. I just like knowing I have something as a backup.
