Received wedding gift before wedding -what to do

Jerrica, on October 16, 2021 at 2:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
So we JUST sent out our invites a week ago and already one of our lovely guests bought off our registry and had the gift shipped to our house. I wasn't prepared for that lol! Do I send a thank you now? Wedding isn't until December so waiting feels like too long.

I would definitely send a thank you note now! That way, the guest knows you received it (and is quickly thanked), and it's one less thank you note to write later.

I agree with Lisa. Send the thank you cards shortly after you receive the gifts. Trust me, you’ll want to do that so you don’t have a backlog of thank you cards to write later. You will have more than enough to write after your shower (if you are having one) and the wedding.

Ok, thank you. That's what "felt" right, but didn't know for sure lol.

Send the thank you note now, it’s considerate and also much less work for you after the wedding to write them as gifts are received.

I was given the advice to get some generic but still on theme thank you cards for any gifts we receive before the wedding, and then we can get ones printed with our wedding photos on them to send after the fact. But yes, definitely send the card now if for no reason other than to let them know you got it safely.
