One of my closest friends from high school is now my bridesmaid, and I have felt like she has criticized my wedding dress choices and plans. I went to David's Bridal in January and fell in love with this lace sleeve dress. And then I went to a boutique yesterday to try on more dresses, and I took my mom and other best friend who is also another bridesmaid (but she is a lot more quiet). Anyway, I came out of the boutique with nothing because I didn't love the dresses, I thought I loved one of them but the pictures were not flattering. My mom loved this strapless ballgown I wore even though I didn't like strapless, and she said it was super flattering. I like how it looked on me, but in the pictures it made me look wide. My bridesmaid really wanted to go dress shopping with me and I only told her the morning of because she texted me asking what I was doing, and she was really bummed that I didn't bring her because she wanted to try out bridesmaid dresses too. People are assholes. Meaning your BM. You look beautiful in all of them! But that lace dress was REALLY made for you! Stop worrying about what she thinks.

You look amazing in the lace strapless and sleeves. Stop being so hard on yourself and take what your friend says with a grain of salt. Sounds like she's an unnecessarily critical person.

I am so sorry that she made comments like that. I can understand how hurtful that experience was for you. I absolutely love the Davids dress with the sleeves. I also like the dress your mom likes. I think both dresses make you look gorgeous but you look happier in the Davids dress. At the end of the day you need to pick the dress that 1) makes you feel beautiful 2) makes you feel like a bride and 3) makes you say ahhhh I'm marrying my best friend. Yes others opinions matter but your opinion is the ultimate one that counts.

I agree #3 is the best fitting on you. Perhaps you should go back again with your mom. Put on a little bit of makeup, a belt and accessories that will bling up the dress. I love the simplicity of the dress but one problem my mom and I had was finding a dress that looked "Bridal" to us. Perhaps it's the same with your mom...

I say you get the one you can't stop thinking about. My friends kept picking the other one but I couldn't help thinking about the one I bought and I don't regret it. 3 looks beautiful

Honestly I don't understand why people make such hurtful comments! You look amazing! I love the strapless dress and the sleeve dress! The people on here would not lie to you about whether or not you look good!

Omg you look STUNNING in the DB dress! Could she be jealous that you're getting married? At the end of the day it's your wedding and it's not her decision what dress you choose. If you like the DB dress go for it!!!

I almost feel like she's telling you she doesn't like these dresses because she likes them herself..

You look beautiful in all 3, but I agree the lace sleeved dress looks stunning on you.

I like 2 or 3. Depending on where you live, I would do the sleeves in March. If its chilly outside they make more sense to me. Tell your friend to shut her pie hole. I think she is jealous

David's bridal dress is stunning on you. Honestly she is not worth the head space go with your heart and leave her in her negative bubble. Her comment say more about her then they do about you - ps I wish I had a figure like you , your drop dead gorgeous and I think your 'friend' is jealous

I don't have anything additional to add to what's already been said, but I do want you to know that you really do look great in the lace sleeved dress. If you love it, then go for it - it's absolutely gorgeous!

You are absolutely stunningly gorgeous in that lace sleeve dress. I think that neckline is so hard for most girls to pull off but it's perfect on you. It's the only one I like. BUT, hey, what I like, what mom likes and what BM likes is NOT important. It's what you like and what makes you feel beautiful. And there's nothing that says, you can't look her in the eye and tell her flat out, that you would prefer CONSTRUCTIVE comments. There is no excuse for making a bride feel bad if you know what you're saying does make her feel bad.

As everyone has said, you look stunning in all of these dresses!

When your friend made these (horrible) comments, what did you say? The next time she says something hurtful, speak up! "I feel really hurt when you say negative thing like that, because it feels like a criticism of my body rather than a comment on the dress itself." Or even just, "Please stop saying negative things about the way I look."

I don't know what would motivate her to be cruel like this, but you are not wrong to be offended and she needs to know that.
