Re-purchasing decor/gifts with new wedding date

Kimberly, on April 28, 2020 at 2:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi Everyone!

I live in Central Jersey and being we are the second worse state after New York with Covid-19, my April 19th wedding had to be postponed. My new wedding date is now June 28th but I am still so worried about that date with things not getting that much better. I had purchased a bunch of things off of Etsy with my original April 19th wedding date customized on them. Because of these items being personalized, all of the shops I made purchases from do not accept returns on these items. However, after messaging all the sellers I purchased from, all of them have offered me discounts if I decide to purchase these items again with my new wedding date, which I think is better than nothing.

I am hesitant on re-purchasing these items with my new wedding date on them because what if my June 28th date ends up getting postponed? I would have wasted money yet again. One of my co-workers suggested that I re-purchase these items without a date on them. It's not a bad idea but there are some items that I would like the date on like our guest book and my gifts to my parents because it will be a forever keepsake. I seriously do not know what to do.

I appreciate any feedback! And any brides that had to have their wedding postponed, I definitely feel your agony! I don't know how I am going to handle it if I have to change my wedding date for the second time! All this uncertainty is what is bothering me the most. I am just ready to be married and start baby making with my fiancé because my baby fever is on a very high level! Stay safe and well!

We are supposed to get married on 08/08/2020 and this is what makes me nervous! I have so much with our date on them! Bridesmaid slippers, welcome sign, a burlap sign with first date yes date and the real date, out wedding toast glasses, flower girl gifts. Part of me is like the date isn't going to matter on some, but on some stuff I feel like it will matter! I would wait until you're a little closer because I feel like most sellers on Etsy have pretty quick turn around time. This whole situation is just so cruddy!

Honestly, I wouldn't spend any more money. Guests know that your original date was cancelled. No one will care that the decor has the original date. I think it's kind of sweet, like you're honoring your original date.

This is actually a really good idea I didn't even think of this!

And honestly, who is going to be the jerk saying/thinking "I can't believe they didn't bother to update their decor items during an international pandemic." You gotta have a serious lack of compassion for that.

We postponed my sisters wedding. We live in southern NJ and the original date was supposed to be 06-13-20 but we moved it back till September and we are going to use the stuff that has her original wedding date on it. We just have a welcome sign and the guest book with the date on them.

As Hannah says, just reuse them! Everyone knows your original date, and this way you can make it into a fun way of remembering that... and something kind of funny?

I'm in Jersey, too, and while we're starting to see a little bit of progress in hospitalization numbers, it's still really bad.

    I'm so sorry!

    Good luck!
