Random thought about sun burns and tan lines

Snif, on August 17, 2010 at 5:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

So I went kayaking yesterday and got the weirdest burn which will turn into the weirdest tan line. My dress shopping is this Sat, so oh well, but for the big day how do you get rid of tan lines? I've been mystic tanning but for the most part it covers your skin evenly soooo... if you have darker skin in some areas it's going to cover it darker than the other skin, right?

Thinking more about this...what if you used the lotion that has the tanning tint in it, and used it only in the sections that your tan line will be weird? I may try that...

When I've had tan lines, they eventually just faded away. If you plan on tanning, they will fade away that way as well.

I have the same issue! I have a huge x on my back and the dress is strapless. Everyone says it will fade but it wont fade enough. I had the same tan line for 8 months last year, i could still see enough that it bugged me when I tryed on dresses. So I will definitely be watching this post Smiley smile

I think if you tan in a tanning bed then the parts that are whiter are more likely to burn because they have had less time in the sun.. they will eventually go away after just a few times in the bed but just know that you will burn in those areas the first few times even if you don't burn other places

I have really fair skin so my tan lines seem to stick around for a long time... lol. I thought about airbrushing my shoulders and chest but I'd hate to rub makeup off on every guest I hug.

On the upside, if your photographer is good, those tan lines will mysteriously disappear in your wedding photos... Smiley winking

I had really bad tan lines when I first started going to the tanning bed but the girl convinced me to buy one of their lovely (and expensive) lotions and while I'm still not certain it's worth the money I paid my halter line has definately gone away. It's still there faintly, probably because I keep wearing halter shirts because they are my favorite this time of year, but not enough that you can tell from further than 3-4 feet away. I've probably only gone for the last month and I'm not the quickest tanner out there, my skin just does not seem to like to hold a tan very well.

Sounds like there is no quick fix and we just have to be careful. Bummer. Color me in a bubble for 3 months before the wedding. No tan lines, bruises or blemishes... lol!!

I would say a quick fix would be body makeup

You can use a tanning cream strategically where you need it. Be warned that you may need several application.

Fins, I had halter type bathing suit tan lines after I came back from my vacation. And of course for my wedding dress shopping I had these tan lines in almost all the pictures, but I didn't really care. They are just going away I think, 3 months later. So you have time to get rid of them by the time your wedding comes.

SInce we got to Cabo 2 days before, I was like a bloody hermit trying to avoid the sun. However, I didn't do so great as my nose got sunburned (luckily I undid the straps in my bikini) and Rick thinks my nose was cute....me not so much. I brought dermablend with me in a darker color (as I was tanned) just in case.

You can see the white line of my sunglasses. Make up artist did a great job, but at this point I'd probably wipe it off.

Sharon, I just looked up dermablend because I'd never heard of it. Does it work well? I have a scar on my face that I tend to spend extra time covering it with foundation.
