Rain on wedding day

Kassie, on November 1, 2017 at 2:49 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

So I am getting married this Saturday and it says it will rain. My ceremony and pictures will be outside. Has it rained on anyone's wedding day before? What did you do about it? I am really bummed about it and I'm trying to tell myself it's fine I can't control the weather but it's just bringing me down.

Do you have a plan to tent or move inside if it rains? I'm planning on an outdoor ceremony, but have a plan to move it inside if it's just too hot (even with the rented outdoor coolers) or raining.

I am getting a clear umbrella for pictures just in case. I have seen so many beautiful pictures in the rain with umbrellas.

It rained on mine long enough that we had to have our ceremony and most of our pictures inside. I was bummed in advance thinking about it but the day of I was just so excited to get married that it didn't matter. You should have a rain plan in place though. Hopefully you went with a venue that has an in and outside space.

It rained on our day. Cold, pelting, sideways rain. Ceremony was inside but we were planning on having photos taken at a nearby nature center as our venue does not have much of anything for outside shots and we really wanted them. It was so bad we couldn't even do the nature center. Our photog was amazing and turned a small never used side patio into one of our photo spots. Came out great.

Originally when it was only forecasted to be light rain she said to get some cute rain boots and a white umbrella. Had us decorate the umbrella with sharpies. Unfortunately we never got to use either but she was excited about the possibilities.

There isn't anything you can do to stop the rain. It rained all day on our friends wedding day, they got some beautiful pictures outside. They have some with and without umbrellas, with the beautiful fall colors in the background. Let your photographer worry about all that though.

I have also heard that rain on the wedding day is supposed to be good luck.....

Our ceremony n reception was inside, so we had no worries there. I really wanted some sunset pics but by that time it was raining so we got a sunrise pic on our honeymoon instead Smiley smile For your ceremony, can you get a tent?

Do you have a rain plan? A good photographer will be able to get amazing shots on a covered patio, so I'd be less worried about that, but rainboots and an umbrella sound cute!

I have a coworker who got married a few weeks ago and it had rained on her day. It wasn't pouring rain but mainly just misting but the pictures I saw, man they were gorgeous. You wouldn't even have known that it was raining that day with those pictures unless you looked in the far corner of the picture where the grass just looks slightly shiny. A great photographer won't let a little rain ruin your pictures.

But ceremony, definitely have it inside. Keep monitoring the weather, it's possible your ceremony could be just before the rain starts.

My wedding day was beautiful all day then when I got in the limo on the way to the ceremony it poured out and didn't stop all day and night, we just did everything inside and took all our pics inside. Our venue was on a lake with a beautiful gazebo and we didn't get to do any of those pictures outside but honestly on the day I didn't care at all, i was like whatever oh well I'm ready to get married I don't care. You have to look at it this way, the weather is the only thing you can't control so expect it to rain and then you won't be upset if it happens and your pictures will be beautiful anyways

Same! I'm still trying to figure out a plan B when it comes to taking pictures because our venue doesn't have anywhere inside to take pics that's big enough. Trying to stay calm though... both our weddings will be beautiful regardlessSmiley smile

I've heard rain on a wedding day is good luck! Still its definitely not how we invision our day, especially if its outdoors (mine included). Love all these rainy day photos though! Best wishes to you that no matter what the weather brings, it brings you a wonderful wedding day!

It rained on our wedding day. Best advice I can give is to have a solid back up plan in place.

I just got married and it was like a monsoon out there! It did not hinder things at all. Just have a place for indoor pics

I had a very light sprinkle and matching umbrellas just in case. Cloudy days DO make make better pictures - no shadows or people squinting. Not ideal, I agree but you can't control the weather!!

That's the downfall to outdoor weddings -_- On the positive side I've heard if it rains on your wedding day it's good luck!
