Rain on the big day

thenagyweds, on May 10, 2017 at 9:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 35

Well the weather report is in for Saturday. Rain ALL day. Talk about being upset. FH says it's okay but I'm very upset about it. I fell in love with the venue because of the outside opportunities for pictures. Now my pictures will be of walls. And if one more person tells me rain is good luck I think I'll scream. Really that's what you tell the bride to make them feel better about themselves. I'm so upset. I've even contacted the venue about it hoping that they can come up with places for pictures that won't make me cry when I see them. Wedding stress has reached a high.

You can still get some gorgeous outdoor pictures in the rain! As long as it is safe to be outside and not raining sideways I'd try to take a few with your FH, call your photographer and see if they are able to accommodate that. Consider grabbing some cute rain boots and umbrellas and head out and give it a try!

I know this is a major major bummer, but you'll still be married to the love of your life and starting a family. I bet it'll still be such an amazing day!

Hopefully, you're getting married in Florida, where the weather can change in a minute.

I completely get you're upset, I'm already praying for a gorgeous day for my wedding. Rain truly ruins my mood and I get how upsetting, annoying and sucky it is. But it's literally the one thing you have zero control over so just try to prepare as best you can. Umbrellas, rain boots, jackets.

Ok but pouring rain or lighter rain? I've seen wedding photos with a cute umbrella that look very romantic

I don't blame you at all for being sad. I'm obsessed with the weather report right now. I was stupid enough to look at the 14 day forecast and it says rain too. I know my wedding will still be great. But I picked my venue for the purpose that I loved the outside part too. But it's nothing that can be controlled. So try to not worry too much. Focus on the good things.

It's hard. You do so much work. My FH loves the inside of the venue and I love the outside so he doesn't seem upset. I called the photographers and she assures me we will get great pictures. I hope the weather changes but I am feeling a little better.

My venue is the same way. I will be crushed if it rains. It's not even about the ceremony being outside, it's the pictures. It's a country club, so naturally the inside isn't as appealing. Keeping my fingers crossed that the clouds part ways and the sun shines through for you on your big day!

ETA my photographer isn't exactly seasoned in wedding poses so I'll really be in trouble if we're stuck inside...

This is one thing you can't control. I totally understand and was there just one year ago. It will be perfect no matter what.

You absolutely never know what will happen. We had our ceremony in Albuquerque, where it basically never rains. The day was gorgeous all through the morning and afternoon. Back yard ceremony space all set. Then, at the exact minute our ceremony was due to start, boom, rain. BUT guess what came out just afterward? Double rainbow!

It rained on our wedding day and I won't lie, at first I was pretty upset when the weather report wasn't changing in the days leading up to the wedding. The power even went out at our reception venue during cocktail hour (while we were taking photos). But we were still able to get some great photos outside! Here are some of my favorite outdoor pics. The bottom of my dress got wet and my curls fell out a bit but IMO the photos turned out very beautiful and it was worth it. I hope this helps you feel better! Rain can be a bummer for sure but it doesn't have to ruin your day or your photos Smiley smile

I understand exactly how you feel!! It's supposed to rain all weekend here Smiley sad I'm super upset, and hate that people keep telling me it's good luck D: tomorrow after we pick up my parents from the airport, we have to go on the hunt for a nice white umbrella for photos.

We embraces the rain as forecast called for it and although it didn't pour it was cloudy and drizzled off and on. I made best of it and makes for cute pics!

@Joleen, see if your photographer has an umbrella! Ours provided a clear one for us since we didn't have time to get one Smiley smile

My project I started last night as we are due for rain as well. White golf umbrella and sharpie paint markers at my photographer's suggestion. I was upset about the rain as well however with everything else going on (niece in hospital started chemo yesterday, dad's health questionable to walk me down the aisle) rain is the least of my worries.

I am still marrying the love of my life.

My cousin got married a few years ago and it was pouring rain all morning. It was still a drizzle when they wanted pictures and they bought black umbrellas which ended up turning into super cute photos. Here's one with her wedding party. She has other great ones with her and her husband too
