Rain and storm on wedding day

Michelle, on October 20, 2020 at 7:55 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 16
Just venting. The weather is driving me nuts. It goes back and forth between rain and no rain and now a full rainy day. My wedding day is in four days and I’m just praying hard for no rain because all of our photos are outside and the indoors doesn’t really have much. 😭 Of course it would be sunny and 70’s before my wedding and then be 50’s and rainy. I know it’s out of my control but I feel so angry and sad, but if it’s still forecasted to rain on my day I’ll put it aside and try to have the best time of my life. Right now I’m just upset.

Hopefully by the Saturday the forecast will change again, or at least be no hard cold rain. But like you said, if it does happen to rain just make the best of it!

I just hate how it looks perfect the days before and then my day is forecasted of storms. At the very least I just want it to hold off when we do pictures and the ceremony. Thanks for your positivity.

Hopefully the forecast changes! But if not, I recommend buying some cute umbrellas and get some fun and unique photos in the rain!

My photographer has them! I also have pashminas for us if it’s a bit chilly.

Try not to stress! The weather will probably change 4 more times before your wedding day. Try to stay positive and hope for the best!

Did you have a back up plan in case of rain?

Aw man Smiley sad I'm sorry to hear that. Rain on your wedding day is good luck, but I know you want it to look sunny and lovely on your wedding day! Hoping all goes well for you, and if it does rain, I hope you get all the good luck it brings!!

Make sure you have some of those giant plastic bubble umbrellas! I know how you feel because it rained all day long our wedding day, and our ceremony had to be indoors instead of outdoors as planned. On the plus side, the rain made for some awesome lighting for some photos that we were able to take under an awning. I would recommend reaching out to your photographer this week to make sure a plan is in place. I had a phone call with my photographer a few days before our wedding and she was able to reassure me that she'd still find a way to get outdoor pics. I know it is a bummer though Smiley sad

Totally know how you feel! This is exactly what happened to me! A week before my wedding the forecast predicted 80% chance of rain on my day and all the other days around it were sunny. I kept checking the weather religiously and constantly (which was probably not healthy). I even cried on the phone talking to my mom about it. I was so stressed. But as the week went on the weather kept changing and soon the probability of rain kept going down and my day ended up being a beautiful overcast day, with no rain in site! I even bought cute clear umbrellas just in case, but never ended up needing to use them.

However, when talking to my mom she helped me to realize that we can't do anything about the weather, just gotta make it work somehow, and the vendors will still make your day beautiful no matter what. So I started to except the rain on my day and embraced it. I was excited to get cute rain photos, and cool artistic shots with the rain. It might be a bummer, but try to stay positive and eventually it will all work itself out in the end, and you still get to marry your man! Good luck to you!!! 💕

The same thing happened to me but it didn’t rain! Apparently it’s very hard to predict weather more than a day or 2 in advance so don’t worry until the day of. Even then- don’t worry because everything will work out! And maybe it will just rain early in the morning or late at night.

I know exactly how you feel. We had an outdoor ceremony and like 2 hours of outdoor photos scheduled so rain would have put a literal dampener on things, but the day turned out to be gorgeous! You just never know. It rained a little in the morning but was beautiful the rest of the day. We just kept a plan B in mind, just in case and that gave me peace of mind. No matter what you'll marry the love of your life and that's all that matters. Plus, rain on your wedding day is good luck!

Yeah the photographer had umbrellas and I bought pashminas. It just sucks because my venue isn’t the type of place where you can have picturesque photos lol only their courtyard garden and the nearby park. If it rains, I just really hope there’s a chance we can get some outdoor photos, I’ve seen cute ones but if it’s storming and down pouring that’s a no go.

Yeah another weather thing says chance of rain early morning. It does change like crazy but I can’t help but stress lol. I’m just trying to mentally prepare that the day won’t be what I envisioned and get all my feelings out no than the day of.

Thank you, I feel like every time I’m sad and my fiancé comforts me I always feel so much better because I remember I get to marry him.
