Questions to ask your venue during a first visit.

Ask about postponement/cancellation policies, what all is included for the price, payment schedules, deposit information, whether they have any preferred vendors or if you can hire whoever you want, timing (do you have to be out by a certain time? What time can you access the venue day-of to setup?), minimum guest count, maximum guest count, and setup/tear down information.

I work in the hospitality industry so I assist with a lot of brides. Questions I immediately asked just from my experience at work was:

1) sales minimums - so soooo important (and taxes)
Example: - I need to get them/pay $18k in sales for food/drinks for a Saturday wedding (it’s cheaper for other days of the week) - after taxes and stuff it’ll be $23.5k
2) decor restrictions/ general restrictions Example: - ceremony is outside... it’s an Arboretum so no fake petals can be used, no smoking (slight problem for the husbands friends), no smoking so no Grand Exit with sparklers (dreams crushed)
3) the list of things the venue, will provide or will include in the price paid Example: - my location includes table cloths, cutlery, a cake and ugly chairs. But I can pay for cute chairs. I also have to pay for chairs for the ceremony

I think this is a good place to start because it just helps you have a better idea of what’s going on in general and it’ll guide you to your next steps in regards to decor and things
