Question about WW Seating Chart tool

Jessica, on December 15, 2011 at 6:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm trying to use the seating chart tool, and I can't seem to make the room any smaller than the default 40 x 40. The cabana and the patio provided by the lodge I'm renting are 24 x 40 and 30 x 40, respectively. But whenever I try to plug those into the Seating Chart tool, and click "change size" it reverts back to 40x40. If I make the room bigger than 40x40 and click "change size" it get's bigger.

Anyone know for certain if the WW tool will allow setup for rooms smaller than 40 x40?

    *BUMP*

Anyone out there have an experience with using the seating chart tool for rooms that are smaller than 40 x 40?

I've also sent an email to WWSupport about this, but haven't received a response yet. Smiley sad

I've tried but also failed. It always went back to default. But in the end I figured it doesn't really matter because I just needed to figure out who sits where. Is there a particular reason you need exact dimensions? Oh yes, and our room was smaller than that.

I only elongated the room b/c ours was more rectangular than anything else...but I don't think it should matter the size as long as you get an idea of what goes where and who sits at which table.

I was only concerned about exact dimensions because I'm a little worried that 24x40 will be too "cozy" for 120 guests, buffett table, cake table, and possibly DJ set-up.

Dancing will probably be out on the tent covered patio, with some outdoor speakers brought in, but I don't think there are enough outlets to support an outdoor DJ set-up, which is why I think I need to also put them in the 24x40 cabana.

I can't get the dumb thing to place the little stick guests butts on the chairs unless I hit exactly the right spot. I'm not even sure we want to do a seating chart, but I need something to do---all work and no play makes Julie a dull boy.

I also HATE it when I try to update my guest list, and the whole page is blocked by an ad that wants me to set up a registry at KOHL'S. That was a total pain in my arse when I was trying to address my STD's. Haven't found a way around that either. Doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it seriously irritates me.

Honestly, it sounds small for that number of guests. We had 45 guests in 23x46, but we had a 12x12 dance floor, a DJ set-up and a cake table and it was perfect. I don't mean to freak you out, but perhaps we could have had another table in there, nothing more.

    Hi Jessica!

Unfortunately at this time it is not possible to make the room dimensions smaller than 40x40. We have a Support article about this that can be found at the link below:

    https://support.weddingwire.com/questions/478/My+reception+room+is+smaller+than+40+feet+wide%2C+how+do+I+change+the+size%3F

In the meantime, my suggestion would be to change the scale of the room to accommodate your dimensions! (Ie. double your room size and use larger tables, etc.) I will certainly pass this feedback along to our dev team in hopes that we can improve the Seating Chart in a future release! Sorry for inconvenience!

Also @Julie R. I know ad pop-ups can drive me crazy too! I recommend clearing your cache and refreshing your browser and visiting your Guest List again, make sure your mouse does not roll over the ad as this is what will cause it to pop it out!
