Question about spanx....

littlefox, on August 7, 2010 at 2:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

Considering buying some spanx, I have a modified merimaid dress and want to smooth my shape and lose1inch off my hip/butt area. I am not a big girl by any means but I need a little help.

Story is this.... when I am stressed I eat. I have been stressed.

Since ordering my dress i gained two inches in this area, I dieted/exercised and lost one but I have fitting and the dress honestly doesnt fit right as is. I dont want to have them take it out unless i HAVE to.

I am 5'5" 118-120 with hips of 36.25 I need hip/butt of 35.5 can spanx do this?

I can't bouch for Spanx but I bought some Shapewear from Fredericks, I didn't so much lose inches but I looooove my figure in it. It definately slimmed me down and the best thing was it was comfortable! It wasn't too thick or bulky. The first link was the one I got but I saw the second one, and it says it's for your butt and thighs. Hope that helps!

I adore Spanx! I have 4 or 5 different versions of them. I go tmy first pair at Ross- seriously. They were knock off brand, but they worked pretty well.

There are other shapers out there that are just as good as Spanx. I dont' know if you can lose 2 inches, but you can lose some.

I so hate to advocate this, but try doing a liquid cleanse to help lose the last few pounds. Or try a body wrap! With my first one, I lost 12 pounds! You gain it back within a week or so, but they can work!

You've got a few weeks, so you can lose it. When you stress eat (Hon, you're preacher to the choir here...), try to keep fresh fruits and veggies on hand. I'm trying to make my go to stress food strawberries- since they don't add pounds. Or, drink some juice. I've been making shakes with a slim fast and a banana. It gets me my chocolate fix!

I loved my results with the wrap! But I've also had some that I haven't lost anything! I will say, in the case of body wraps- you get what you pay for! And any weight you lose, you'll gain back within a few weeks. It's all water weight, but it's good for a short term deal.

Ladies, my sister's SIL does the wrap for a living & she has spoken to me about it often, trying to get me to do a full-body 1 before the wedding. It can grow to be pricey but before she started performing them, she had several done herself. In her first set of wraps, I believe over 2 weeks, she lost 26 inches and so many lbs. I don't remember what she said the lbs lost was. After her initial run of wraps she started eatting healthy and exercising and she didn't gain the lbs or inches back until she lost track of her dieting and exercise. So wraps "can" keep it off if you're willing to sacrifice good food and fun times. She wasn't able to consume alcoholic beverages because that causes you to bloat and regain the inches quicker. I was going to do it just to tighten up my chin/neck area, my arms and across my chest above my breasts and maybe my thighs. But I would have to start now and every session is $50. You can go every other day but much give yourself 24 hours inbetween wraps con;t

Because of the chemicals used in the actual wrap itself to cause the results.. You swear some kind of suana suit overtop the wraps @ her salon & since in a suana room for 1 hour. She said it can't be overwhelming for new comers but she recommends it. If I do it I will take b4 & after pics for everyone but first I've got to figure out where I am going to get the money from.

Exactly Kali. The place I go is $140, but it includes a body scrub and mini facial. It's expensive, but spa days are my guilty pleasure. I'm cutting back since we're saving for the wedding, but I still do stuff every once in a while. I fully intend on going the week before the wedding!

Right now JCrew is selling Spanx online in the bridal section of their website. I have a pair I used when I initially went to try on wedding dresses and they definitely helped. Also, I'm not sure when your next appointment is, but I did phase 1 of the South Beach diet for two weeks and could see my hips literally melting off each day. It was extremely brutal, but if that's where you tend to gain weight, like I do, I can attest to the diet working on the hip area.

Also, there are different levels of Spanx, so go for the most aggressive type if you want drastic results. In other words, don't buy the Skinny Britches as they won't do much at all.

Well, I just bought spanx and was GOING to do a whole post about it last nite but half way through the post my computer crapped the bed and i was way too tired to start over. Basically, if you're on the fence about spanx, you mightas well hop off, go try them suckers ON! Today 2 of my BMs got the cheaper version from Avenue Body. The results are very good, not as FAB as spanx but almost...and they're half (if not less) the price! Soooo ..i say go for it! Just go try them on, it cant hurt!
