Private User, on September 5, 2012 at 1:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hey y'all!

Has anyone used Publix for their wedding cake? If so, please provide some info such as:

-Did you choose one of their styles or create your own?

-How large was the cake? Fed how many?

-Price?

-Satisfaction?

-Did you meet with a baker prior to ordering the cake? Taste test?

-Did you feel that one Publix could create a better cake than another?

-Any other details

*If you are/were a bride in the Atlanta area, please let me know which Publix you used and what baker created your cake.

THANKS!

I am going to use Publix for my cake. My best friend used them for her wedding cake and numerous party cakes and I can tell you her experiences. Smiley smile

-Did you choose one of their styles or create your own? Picked two medium cakes out of the book and did custom work on them.

-How large was the cake? Fed how many? They help calculate how much cake you need for the amount of people you have. She had one main cake and then 1 cupcake cakes that was 24 cupcakes.

-Price? Don't remember the exact price, but it was under $100 to feed 100 people.

-Satisfaction? Cakes looked as planned and tasted great!

-Did you meet with a baker prior to ordering the cake? Taste test? No, we walked in and ordered a cake. We have eaten many Publix cakes, so we know how they taste.

-Did you feel that one Publix could create a better cake than another? I think they're cakes taste great for the price, and the bakery employees are always willing to help.

I went to Publix to get info on the cost, designs, etc. and they quoted me $350-$450 to feed 75-80 people! I also got this same estimate from the Publix rep at a recent wedding show I attended. I ended up going with an actual cake shop and only paid $250 (including delivery and free sugar flowers) for a cake to feed the same amount of people.

My FI is a Publix baker.

If you want to create your own style of cake bring in a photograph of what you want and ask to speak with a decorator. FI suggest speaking to a decorator no matter what.

They help you pick out the appropriate size for a cake. FI says a lot of people order a 6in-9in-12in or 7in-10in-14in for a reception of about a 80-120ppl.

Prices vary depending on detail and size. But they have some of the most competitive pricing.

My friend had a Publix cake at her wedding. (FI's sister decorates cakes and is making ours for free. If she wasn't we'd be using Publix.) It was a hit. Moist and yummy!

Call in advance for a cake tasting. And FI says as a baker talk with a decorator. The inside will taste exactly like the one you pick out no matter who bakes but the decorations can vary depending on who is your decorator and if you are customizing stuff.

I love Publix cakes. You get an amazing cake for a decent price and there is always someone willing to help.
