Promoting Wedding Website

Jasmine, on July 30, 2020 at 9:46 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17
So I spent a lot of time to create my wedding website to be perfect, and its not getting as many views from our guest and friends as much as I would like. We haven't sent out our invitations yet that will contain the link but have posted it on our social medias. Is it too much to keep reposting on our social medias or not? And if so how often should I be posting?

It looks like you aren't getting married until next year, I doubt that many people will be looking on the website right now. My wedding is March 2021 and its the same. Generally people will start looking when it is closer to the wedding or when they are looking for your registry.

I've included our wedding website since our STDs went out and included it again with our invitations and ours doesn't get much viewing. People just really aren't into it. But.... on the off chance you are requiring them to enter their names into the site and they are trying to enter from IE - they'll get denied. For some reason it has to be a public site to view from internet explorer. All other platforms accept it being non-public.

Ours hasn’t got much traffic since people received their save the dates. My one bridesmaid flat out told me that she hasn’t even looked at my site and had no clue where I was registered.

Deep breaths. It’s a resource to help them out and to prevent you from fielding the same questions repeatedly. As it gets closer to your wedding, I’m sure folks will start looking there. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. Lol

Once you send out the invites with the link, you’ll get plenty of foot traffic because people would be more inclined to look

Are you wanting your social media list of friends/followers to view the wedding website? Or just guests who are actually invited? If you already listed the website on social media, then no, I wouldn’t post it again. When I post to social media, I don’t usually repeat my posts. Additionally, if your friends are like me.... I quickly scroll through my feed, look at a few pics, but don’t usually click on many links. Also I wouldn’t be inclined to click on the link of a wedding via social media that I wasn’t invited to.

But, I think this comes as another example of the reality that our weddings are (and should be) most important to us and our FH’s. Others just aren’t (and shouldn’t be) concerned on a regular basis about the details of our wedding, especially a year away. Many (many) aspects of our weddings are going to have details and efforts exhausted that only WE will fully appreciate. So, we have to be OK with that and enjoy the fact that we’re creating a wedding that WE want.
However, I’m sure that when you send your invitations with the link, your guests will be more likely to check out your website.
Also, feel free to create a new post and attach your wedding website link here on WW. We’ll look at.... brides love that stuff!!! 😉😃

I do have it set so they enter their name and email when they enter the site. No one has mentioned to me that they have a problem with accessing the page

So when I did that, it gives me the option to enter my name but then just reverts back to the main screen and nothing moves forward so it looks like you haven't updated anything.

No one mentioned it to me either. I happened upon the problem when i was doing something and tried to view it from a different browser

We put ours on our save the dates and a lot of people looked at it then. They also looked at it after getting my bridal shower invitations. I wouldn't want to put it on social media because then a lot more people will see it, and we're not inviting everyone we know. People are more inclined to look at wedding websites for weddings they're actually invited to. Seeing it on social media doesn't mean they're invited, but getting an invitation does, so I'm sure people will look at it once they see those.

I'm getting married in September, and when we first sent save the dates I didn't include the site on the cards, but I did send them out through messenger/texts (I didn't want to put it straight on social media to avoid hurt vlfeelings over not being invited or anything) and the site didn't get much traffic. BUT when we sent invitations, we added the URL to the card and instructed people to RSVP on the website. After that it got a LOT more hits. My only issue is that a lot of people RSVPed before Covid really hit hard, and I've since put some precautions on the website encouraging people to get tested if they plan to come and to bring a mask. I just hope that prt has been seen since!

As a guest, I have only ever looked at a wedding website when I am ready to buy a gift and/or need details about wedding logistics. And if I weren't a guest, it would never occur to me to look at someone's wedding website (that is, if I saw a friend post a link on social media but I wasn't invited to their wedding).

I think people will start looking as it gets closer. I think it's a good idea to not only have it on the invites but send via text as well. You know for sure they'll click that link!

I look at websites for registry info, hotel info, and then the schedule close to the event. We have all of that on ours, and our guests will be using it to RSVP. I don’t think it’ll get much attention otherwise, though.
