Promise ring to wedding band

Ashlee, on April 26, 2016 at 4:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

I was wondering if any of you have experience with taking one piece of jewelry (in this case my promise ring) and turning it into your wedding band. I am not sure if I would save money or it would be more expensive for the labor. Any thoughts or past experiences? Thanks!

This thread is about repurposing family rings. You may find some helpful info. Often times the cost of repurposing can equal or exceed a new ring.

FH wanted to have a ring of his grandfathers made into a different type of ring. We found out that it was wayyy more money then to just buy a new ring. It seems silly to me...

It depends on what you want done. I had my promise ring turned into my engagement ring but all we did was change it from a marquee to a cushion cut stone. It can be more expensive than a new ring to alter a ring. FH had the stone taken from the promise ring put into a pendant that I plan surprise FH and wear for the wedding.
