Promise Ring? Engagement Question

My boyfriend gave me a promise ring for our one year anniversary. Which I love the idea. He wants to save money for a ring, and has a plan in mind for the proposal because he wants it to be special. I created this profile to read posts and see what other brides experience. I love the promise ring idea, I'm enjoying every second. I love when he says things such as: for our wedding, etc. Anyone else been there? I want to hear the bad the good and the ugly. I am pretty much killing time before the engagement which will be a total surprise.

It basically sounds like he wanted to propose now since he has a proposal plan just didn't have the money for the ring, so he went and took money that could have gone towards an e ring for this ring...how old are you guys? And weddings are expensive, so be prepared to wait for a while and save for a while

I don't think it's necessarily a childish practice. . Personally I wouldn't pull the trigger on booking anything at that point though. Also planning during the engagement doesn't have to be a mad rush as one poster suggested.

My FH gave me a promise ring on our third anniversary...when we were 16...

We didn't get engaged (and I didn't even start thinking about planning until we were engaged) until almost 10 years later. I wore my promise ring every day until he proposed with my e-ring.

My opinion: If you and he have discussed marriage and are both on the same page about the timeline, finances, and the future, then you ARE engaged.

I think you should just enjoy the now. I believe he cares about you and sees a future with you. So get on Pinterest, start pinning things but don't harp on it. Enjoy it! Wear it proud and continue to love him!
