Problem with finding band to sit flush...

Aimee R (formerly Aimee B), on March 25, 2012 at 4:39 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Hi ladies, anyone else have this problem with their setting? We just started looking at bands and my setting won't allow a band to sit flush with my engagement ring.

Oy!

Ask the jeweler where you purchased the ring. They may have a special band that fits your e-ring's band.

You can find bands that have little insets meant to go around bands like that.

Rachel, we did but they don't. They said they would have to make something custom again. Smiley sad

Shellie do they? I saw some curved ones but they didn't see to work.

With that type of setting you will have to have a band custom made, or have a band that doesn't sit flush, or simply wear just this ring. Even just from the profile it looks gorgeous!

I had the same issue with my e-ring. It was a solitaire in a trellis setting and the band was going to have to be custom made, same with yours, if you want a band they will have to custom make it. I decided to use the solitaire form my e-ring and put it into a set that came with a band and I love it, having a band and having one that sat flush against the e-ring was important to me but it's all about preference, having a band custom made was going to be more than purchasing a set that came with a band so that's why I chose to do what I did.

Not very good pics, I know but you get the idea. i will probably have to have them soldered together but I'm trying to find clamps for the bottom of it instead because I don't really like the whole soldering idea, I like it to be two rings not one. It stays together pretty well for the most part though. Good luck!

Here are 2 from Shane Co. that are designed to go with square rings.

I'm having the same problem & actually my ring looks a lot like Jennifer A.'s. I will probably just have to deal that they won't be able to sit right up against each other :[

Another thing to think about is if you get a band that sits flush with your ering, it will look weird by itself. And you may want to wear your wedding band without the ering sometimes.

I "had" the same issue. Every band I tried on with my e-ring did not look right. I have a halo with a basket that look likes a cupcake. I played around with the idea of getting a separate band that I could wear separately but it would eventually erode the basket if I ever wore them together. We were also quoted $1500 for a custom band.

The jeweler told us that a good chunk of rings today are now being designed to be solo hence the lack of a matching bridal ring.

I'm going to have my band custom made. I have heard before about if you get one custom made you can't wear the band by itself, but I can just go get a cheap band for that. My setting is square as well, and since my e-ring was economically priced, I feel that $1200 is justified for the band so I can get one that sits flush with my ring and matches well with my e-ring. We got a quote from a jeweler and we are probably going to get another quote before we decide what to do, but we don't have to order anything until January. And the jeweler said the price could go down some by then since gold is at an all time high right now and it could go down by then.

Briony he said it would erode? If they arent flush or touching did he say how that would happen?

Any other ladies go with non flush rings? Would love to see pics and hear opinions.

Does it look okay if/when you wear just the band?

    Thank you for the picture!

To think my lovely e-ring would cause such a hassle. Hahaha.
