I love this idea! We aren't doing a "first look", so I'd like a private moment like this! I think it'd be hard to get rid of stragglers though, I'm wondering how it might work logistically...but if I can figure it out, I'd love to do it!!

Have the DJ stop playing music and make an announcement that all the guests should go outside to get ready for the grand exit.

Shut the door behind them, have your private last dance, and then exit.

I love the idea behind this however I don't believe FH and I are having a grand exit. We will still have to take a few outside photos with our photographers. We are also heading to our hotel with a few of our guests for some after wedding fun at the lounge bar, so to me a grand exit seems kind of silly for us.

I totally love this idea, and I think Nancy is on the right track.

I know that at least one of my venues (the Park Savoy) has a little bridal room on the main level next to the ballroom. I could see my couples retreating to that little room and dancing.

Honestly, we had enough to do while the guests were getting ready with the sparklers, like gather all our crap. We had a first look and we're going to be together a long while, we can have a private dance whenever we want.

I've seen pictures of this from several weddings, and they always look so much more romantic than the pictures of the first dance where everyone is watching.

Yes we are totally doing this. My DJ suggested it and says all his couples love it. He will even start the song and walk out so we are completely alone (after the photographer takes a few pics). We are doing Thomas Rhett's song- Die a Happy Man. FH didn't want a country song for our first dance but he likes the song so we're doing it for the last dance.

I'd have a good plan to get everyone outside for your exit. I've been to weddings where elderly relatives decided not to go to the send-off because they'd rather stay at a table where they can sit. You don't want it to be private.....except for aunt Marge awkwardly watching from a table by herself.....
