Private ceremony - open reception -- when to do food/cake?

Marisa, on July 29, 2019 at 6:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

We are having a small, immediate family private ceremony with a reception shortly afterwards where we'll invite our friends and extended family. When is the appropriate time to do the cake and/or other food?

Welcome to WW, Marisa! I don't think there's a "proper" time to serve cake and food at your reception

The meal is typically served at the beginning of the reception and cake or dessert after.

I’m planning on it after the dances! I’m also having a private ceremony then open reception for friends and members of the church so we plan on having it after all the dances and a few games are done.

Hey Marisa Smiley smile Have you decided on a timeline for your reception yet? Where does food and cake fit in?
