Prices: Wedding Dress vs. Wedding Tux

Hailee, on January 26, 2020 at 1:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
So, I guess I lucked out finding the perfect dress for under $400 but now while looking at suits/ tuxes for future hubby I'm starting to get sticker shock. Should I ask his mother to chip in as my mom did for my dress or should we try to figure out how to rent/buy one on our whole dime?

How much are the tuxes? Some times the shop where you get your dress has deals on tuxes. I never heard of their mom pitching in for tuxes. I don’t think I would ask my FMIL to pay for his tux but I’m not up to date on etiquette.

Is there any place cheaper? We got my FH tux rental for $60

Not sure about buying tux’s but we rented and if he had 6 rentals the 7th was free so between the groomsmen and dads he didn’t have to pay and it was only $130 for everyone to rent which includes shoes.

We ended up buying a suit from Men’s Wearhouse for $170 (including alterations) during Black Friday/cyber Monday weekend. If you sign up for their rewards program they’ll text you when they’re having sales—may be worth a shot! 🙂 they seem to have sales pretty often

My dress currently is more than FH’s suit. But I am actually going to look for a new dress soon. FH’s suit is custom made to his measurements and we ordered it from a place online that rarely does sales. We figured buying this particular suit outright was best so he could rewear it.

If she doesn't offer to chip in, she probably doesn't want to or plan to. I'd rent a suit to save money. We rented from GenTux. It was actually free for my husband since the groom's is free is you have enough groomsmen. We bought his tie, cowboy boots, button down shirt, socks and lapel pin but we easily could have rented his pants, jacket & button down for $130.

Our attire was about the same price, but he rented his suit and I bought my dress secondhand. We looked into buying a suit, but with him working out more, there was no point in getting him a suit that wouldn’t fit in a few months.

Can your groom get a suit that he can wear beyond the wedding? sometimes stores like express have deals on men's suits

How much is the tux you’re looking at? My fiancé just got a full tux with colored bow tie and shoes included. He only paid $200.
