Hey all, I was just wondering, what is the most ridiculous price per plate that you've ever heard of.

LOL. In Tel Aviv, you're talking the equivalent of about $100 per plate.

It's really going to vary by region and as others mentioned what is included..

However I have no qualms about stating whether I think a price is ridiculous..everyone has different priorities.

$230.00 at a hotel by our home that I had looked into.

I'm paying $96.30pp, the average pp around our area seemed to be $125.00 after tax and tip.

Ours is $144 per person, but its included in our inclusive venue. Cake is also included and its actually from a really well known bakery! So, it's not that bad, but it comes with just the basics and im doing a lot of upgrades with linens, chairs, and of course I have to bring in outside vendors such as florist, photographer, videographer, etc. So, Im getting a deal, but then again im not! Lol.

It's all relative. In my area, NJ/NY, you can't really find anything for under 75.00 per plate and it goes up to 300 or so.

I got so lucky with my planner. Its only 58 pp all inclusive. The only thing we have to pay is officiant, photographer, and any extra flowers or decorations (other than what they will already do) and he plans and coordinates everything from start to finish.

@Shaina W. mine is $29 with cake cutting fee, but we can bring in alllllll the sweets we want!

Our reception breakdown for 42 guests is-

    $25/food + $4/cake fee

Includes bar and staff(not alcohol), venue, plated dinner with 4 options, waitstaff, linens, cake and gift/escort table. They're also letting us use the intimate dining room (15 people or less) for free as a dressing/powder area.

And then $250 for a huge dancefloor(they only have one size that will fit 80 people).

Then we're doing the 2 ticket bar. So $10/pp for that.

We're in Houston but getting married in La Porte :-)

Those high numbers make my brain hurt. But, I also make very little money at my job so I couldn't fathom paying half my paycheck for one plate. If I could afford to do it - I would have probably had my reception elsewhere with better food and the price would have been much higher lol.

We got really lucky - ours is less than $30 pp.

Our venue is nice (nothing to write home about but it's a popular venue here in our area). The food is good (my cousin is the head chef so we got a discount) and we're getting a free open bar.

went to a wedding were it was about $800 per plate and I don't think that counted cake or venue. It was a 'friend' of FH from college.

It was a very expensive wedding, I dread to think how much was spent all together

    $85.....thought that was high lol.

For the actually food, we know the caterer and are only paying $10 per plate for food, but if you add in the dishware, flatware, and linens and bar, we're probably only at about $20 per person.

It depends on what you view as ridiculous and what your budget is.

For me it was about quality and quantity. We are paying 70 per person but that includes 8 types of horderves, a meal, open bar and a dessert bar. We also have our linens, chairs, flatware and lighting and some decorations included. It would normally be about 90 but we are getting the off season discount.
