Pregnant Bridesmaids!!

Katie West, on August 17, 2015 at 11:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

My wedding is Dec 5, 2015. We have had a bridesmaid appointment scheduled for this coming Saturday for about a month now (it was the only day that i could get all 8 girls together).Within the last two weeks i have had my MOH and my cousin ( who is a bridesmaid) tell me that they are pregnant ( one will be 7mo and the other 8mo).I want all 8 girls to look somewhat uniform but i know that a dress that looks right on my MOH wont look great on my other MOH who wears about a size 3. Im having a hard time deciding what to do. i want to set my MOhs seperate from the rest of the girls but i cant think of a way to make it look uniform on body types from 0 to 28 two of those being pregnant.. someone give me advice..

So.. I ran into an issue that was somewhat similar.. I was going BM dress shopping while my BM was pregnant but she will have her baby in October and the wedding is in February.

We are "estimating" the size of her belly - she is ordering a dress (this week) that will fit her at this current size. We are thinking/hoping she will be this size or smaller four months after she has her baby.

Anyway -- we went with an empire waist dress. Sorella Vita 8472 (it's floor length but they also make a cocktail length one). It is a convertible chiffon flowy dress - my sister who is my MOH will be style differently on the top compared to the other BMs for the ceremony and pictures. Afterwards they can switch up the top if they want. My BMs are all different shapes and sizes and they all LOVED the way the dress felt - they ALL told me they felt really comfortable on the dresses and felt that dress flattered their body types. My currently pregnant BM said it felt great!

ETA: My BMs sizes ended up all being between 12/14-18 - even though they are different shapes and sizes - it was certain measurements that ended making them really similar BM dress sizes.

    Oops forgot the link:

With only 4 months to go, 3 months if you're factoring in time for alterations, I would say, find a color swatch you like and let them just pick a dress that comes in that color. You can give specifications like "must be long" or "must be short." You're running on a pretty short window though, so make sure your BMs are able to get their dress in that color in a timely manner as well. I know some dresses at some stores can take up to 3-5 months to come in depending on the color. With 2 pregnant BMs and various body types of 8 different women, I really think this is your best bet at this point, unless you're able to find something that looks good on every body type and would be comfortable for the BMs that are pregnant. For me, I've got BMs of various body types and a BM TTC, so I made sure when I picked mine that it would look good on everybody, including my BM should she be pregnant by our wedding.

Maybe look into the Versa from DB. I don't know for sure how it would work on a pregnant body (and I can't say I LOVE working with them but they do have some upsides). Since it's a convertible dress you could style the girls differently depending on what works best with their shape plus it's fairly high waisted which would be helpful with pregnancy. Other than that I might just look into companies that offer multiple dresses in the same exact color which many do. Then you could make everyone look somewhat uniform but still work with their body types.

My BMs ordered their dresses last August. A few months ago one of my BMs found out she was pregnant. She'll be around 7 months by the time the wedding comes. The good thing about their dresses is that they have an empire waist so it's nice & flowy. Last month she tried her dress on and freaked out because it didn't fit. She went to DB and they were able to let her exchange the dress for a bigger size. They even had a pregnant belly for her to try on under the dress so they could see how the dress fit . She ended up getting a dress 2 sizes up so there's room.

The botique we went to for my sisters bridesmaids dresses had those baby bumps you could put under the dresses. It was nice for the girls that were recently pregnant to see what each dress might look like in 6-7 months. At this point I think you are going to have to be a little bit more flexible for the pregnant ladies. You can still have that uniform look (with legnth and color), and offer each size bm comfort (in style). The MOH could have a belt or broach to make them stand out.

This was my sisters wedding a few weeks ago. It's obviously not a pro picture since nobody is looking at the camera. Smiley smile I think it looks pretty uniform for being 2 styles of dress. 2 girls were pregnant. One dress was empire and one fitted and corset back. Bill Levkoff dresses. Smiley smile

My sister/MOH was pregnant while dress shopping and had her baby 2 months before the wedding. She discussed this with the attendant, they measured her and estimated and she ended up buying two dresses and returning one before the wedding. This is definitely something you'd need to discuss with the store though because not all will allow this.

Another of my bridesmaids got pregnant after buying her dress. She was 5 months pregnant at my wedding. The store had measured her and recommended she size up a bit, so she lucked out and her dress ended up fitting well.

Like other posters have said, empire waist dresses are great for pregnant bellies because they flounce out a bit. Three of my bridesmaids had the same dress and my sister went with a different neckline and (I thought) they all looked amazing.

Here is a picture of my bridal party. It's not the best view, but you can see the two women who were/had been pregnant. My sister is the one closest to me and the 5-month pregnant girl is the first on the left.

I think that DB and weddings shops have some good pregnancy dresses that aren't to different then the regular ones. If they are the same color then I think it would still look really nice! You could always bring one of those fake baby bumps that anticipate the size of the bump for when they try on dresses. That way you can get a somewhat close idea of what their size and dress will be.

Alfred Angelo has 2 maternity bridesmaid dresses, one short and one long. One of my bridesmaids will be 7 months along, so right now the plan is to have her buy the maternity style and get dresses that complement it for the other two. They do make the same dress in non-maternity, so if both the other girls like it enough, they'll all be in the same dress.

I worked as a stylist for DB when the Versa was released. I would go with Versa Dress or the "Forever 5" at DB. That style is so flattering on pregnant bridesmaid. Also most stores have a fake bump that they can put on so that they can see if it looks good. If the bridesmaid is self-conscious, you can always have her rest her hands on her bump while carrying the bouquet. Works like a charm.

Carly, they're JCrew in misty rose. I think they're having a sale right now. If not, they have them pretty often and you can get a great deal. That's what we did!

My sister will be 2 weeks out from her due date at my wedding. Her dress style is a bit different from the other bridesmaids but honestly you can barely tell. The neckline is a bit more dramatic and it is an empire waist to accommodate her belly. Davinci 60183 and 60182

My sister in law was pregnant with my niece at my wedding. I had a very wide span of sizes also and found it was just easier to let them choose what looked best On them. Have them look "in uniform" in another way, ie hair style, jewlery, shoes, length etc. everyone loved how my maids looked.
