pre wedding meet and greet and post wedding brunch?

Chris, on March 20, 2016 at 11:40 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Hi! We are getting married in September in MI and all the guests (about 40-45) will be coming from OH (about a 7-8 hour drive). I don't know at this point who is coming Friday night and who is driving up Saturday and going back Sunday. We are having a small wedding, no wedding party, just us, officiate and guests, in a relatives beautiful back yard, and are debating between a tent, tables, caterer at the house, or reserving a room at a restaurant for a dinner reception. My question...should we have a meet and greet Friday night somewhere? Should we have a post wedding brunch Sunday? If so, do we pay for those? How and when do we announce those? In the gift packages at the hotels? Sorry for all the questions...thanks for any answers!

We plan to do a day after brunch for our guests. All of them are technically out of town as we aren't having our wedding in the town we live in. We are paying for it and plan to post it on the wedding website and tell people in person.

If your budget allows, you can host Welcome Dinner and a Farewell brunch. The guests should just not be paying for it. They're already paying for gas/airfare and hotels.

You can announce it on the wedding website and on the invitations (usually on a separate card) and then additionally through word of mouth/at the hotels.
