Pre-wedding injury

Taylor, on September 16, 2022 at 10:12 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 12
Not really a question but just need to vent. I found out I have a fracture in my spine yesterday. It’s been hurting quite a lot but there’s not much I can do right now. I have a doctors appointment in a little over a week to see someone and I might need to do physical therapy but my wedding is literally in 3 weeks so I’m scared I’ll just be in pain wedding day. Just my luck as well
Anyone else have luck like this? Or just me? 🙄

Oh girl, I’m so sorry! Hopefully they will give you some good pain meds or a therapeutic injection to keep you pain free during your wedding!

Ask about if they can do a cortisol injection ahead of time. I had a friend in college that I danced with who fractured her spine over the course of years of dancing on concrete and she got an injection so that she could do one last international competition. I dont know if it helped that much considering you're still jumping and landing with force but I imagine that it would help for primarily standing! That way you know that you can get through the wedding and also be doing all the other stuff they recommend before and after

Really sorry to hear this! My husband and I both contracted covid mere days before our wedding and we went through quite a difficult couple of weeks emotionally.

I totally understand the stress/fear/sadness factor, I felt really depressed that the run up to the wedding wasn't the super fun time with all my friends and family that I thought it would be, and I was really nervous that feeling so ill would ruin the day.

Well, we finished our isolation in time for the wedding but I was still feeling very ill on the day of.

Honestly, I did need to sit down regularly and take breaks and by the time our taxi came I was dead on my feet (and secretly wishing we had booked to leave an hour earlier!) but it absolutely did not spoil the experience of my day at all.

Of course its gutting and I wished I had been fully well, but it really didn't ruin the day for me like I thought it would.

In the run up to the wedding I really tried to remind myself that worrying about things out of your control is just a waste of time and energy. You just need to look after yourself, rest up and think about ways to cope on the day. I hid a great big bag of pain killers at the venue, they probably thought I had a problem! lol

I'm not sure if this applies to you, but I felt significant relief with traction in PT after a significant spinal extrusion from a sport injury. I hope you feel better soon.

    Yes. 😅
Weddings in 29 days and a few weeks ago I tore my meniscus and was told I have significant arthritis in my knee. And that’s only one of them. He called it “a pretty bum knee” 😁 have a follow up to see if surgery will help.

Definitely ask about this! I got them for a hip fracture, and they were an absolute lifesaver! It took about two weeks for the effect to fully sink in on my first injection, but I was pain-free for nearly a year afterward!

Oh no! I hope it works out! My mom did the exact same thing. Had to have surgery roughly a month ago. She’s been hoping it would be better for the wedding ( she LOVES dancing) but unfortunately it’s been a very slow recovery

Massage and PT!!! If they massage out the muscles that are really mad bc of the fracture, you might feel a bit better. And the cortisone shot - make sure you tell them that your wedding is soon!

So feel this so much! I’m getting married in 3 weeks and I tore my planteris tendon and I am in a boot. Also, I got my teeth fixed for the wedding and they broke and fell out in my sleep last night. I feel hopeless and broken. Please pass on any advice you may have.
