Pre-wedding Hives

Danielle, on October 1, 2018 at 3:10 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 1 7
Help! I am getting married on the 13th and I have started to get hives. My doctor says it is from stress (!!!) but this has never happened before! What are some remedies to calm this before the big day? I have gone through a round of steroids already, but I’m looking for something more natural.

What helps you with stress normally? Some suggestions are to find a counselor/therapist to talk to, other people like to journal, maybe take a hot bath or have a spa day? Running & exercising always helps me.

Soak in a hot oatmeal bath. Try to meditate. Stay hydrated.

Make sure you haven't started any new products, vitamins, foods, drinks, lotions etc. around the same time the hives appeared since any of those things could be linked to your reaction. You could try taking Zyrtec or Allegra daily to prevent the histamine response as well. Hope that helps!

Hang in there, Danielle! The others give some great advice here.

Check to make sure there's nothing new in your diet/consumption to rule out any sort of allergic potential. From there, de-stressing by exercise, journaling, talking to someone, taking a bath, staying hydrated, and focusing on the positives, not fixating on the things out of your control, leading up to your wedding day is key. As someone who has struggled with this in the past, I'm so sorry.
I have found that a morning dose of Zrytec as helped calm spontaneous hives.
Also consider using lotions meant for itching to help calm your skin. My primary breakout areas of hives would be my jawline and down my neck to my chest. I really liked the Lubriderm Daily Moisturizing Lotion for normal to dry skin for my face/neck, and the Vaseline Intensive Care lotion for my body. That really helped eliminate my stress hives. It might even be a placebo effect of just performing self care and that may be relaxing but who knows.

Be mindful of any new products you've been using and try to stay away from heavily fragranced products. Also consider if you've started using any new laundry products!

And as for the obvious, focus on something you enjoy doing for stress relief! If that means taking a hot shower sticking fuzzy socks on to watch your favorite show, then do it!

Everything will work out and you'll be a gorgeous bride! Congratulations.
