Pre-Wedding Beauty Treatments?

Rose, on September 13, 2015 at 4:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

As I sit here with Crest white strips on my teeth, running out the timer by going over upcoming spa appointments with my bridal party, I'm wondering what other brides have planned. I'm a pretty low-maintenance gal, so I'm not going all out. Just whitening my teeth (obviously), getting a few things waxed, having a mani/pedi day with my girls, and getting eyelash extensions. Then professional hair/makeup on the day of. What do other brides have planned to "pretty up" before the big day?

ETA: Grammar.

Not much. I'm having a mani-pedi but I'm not sure if I'll have it done somewhere or do it myself because honestly while it feels nice to have it done I like the results better when I do it myself. I haven't touched my eyebrows in years so no issues there. I'll give myself a hair mask with an avocado. I'm doing my own hair and makeup.

I work in a spa, so I probably have more access than others, butttt....

I'll be getting a couple light chemical peels starting at the end of the month, a few body parts will be getting waxed, white stripping my teeth (and FH's), a mani/pedi, and freshening up my hair color.

ETA. My coworkers are doing hair and make up for my girls and I the day of the wedding as well.

I had a facial 6 weeks prior, I will be doing airbrush tanning, mani/pedi and teeth whitening the week of. Other than that I have been getting highlights every 6-8 weeks since June to be sure I have my perfect "bridal blonde" lol. Airbrush makeup, lashes and waterproofing + hair on the day of. I have been getting laser hair removal for 2 years but am still not finished though it has helped about 1/3 of the way if that makes sense.

I love these posts. I'm all about beautifying and relaxation techniques! Lets see: I started removing my makeup at bedtime faithfully 6 months before (I used to be awful about this going to sleep w/makeup on) the wedding date AND using night cream, something I never did before. Faithfully exercising (cardio promotes natural glowing skin!) for a year now leading up to my wedding - which intend on keeping up after the wedding. Cut out all preservatives, clean dieting and drink nothing but water and tea pretty much (also promotes healthy glowing skin from within). I've been getting monthly massages for stress relief and blood circulation (again, promotes healthy glowing skin). I use a mud treatment weekly (Glam Glo), deep condition my hair weekly, and earlier in the week of my wedding I plan on getting a salt glow body treatment (my wedding dress is sleeveless/strapless), mani/pedi the night before the wedding. That is about the extent of the beauty treatments I think. I did consider professional facials, but the cost of keeping up my hair color is ridiculous and I'm not sure I have the money in my budget for the really cool facials I want (like microdermabrasion, also my spa has an age-smart facial I would love to try, but I just don't have it in my budget, and will continue with the weekly mud facials at home). And yes, teeth whitening is a must for me. I will do that a week before.

How far in advance of your wedding did you all start getting regular spa skincare? I have never had a facial before, but I think my skin would really benefit from one, and maybe micro dermabrasion. Should I start now?

@ Jacqui722....I got my first facial last week so about 45 days out. I will be having two more prior to the wedding. The difference in my skin is pretty friggin' amazing. I also started using a spa grade skin care regiment at home.

Appointment with my hairdresser for a trim and touch-up on my highlights two weeks prior to the wedding.

couple of days before the wedding I will be getting a pedicure and a gel manicure.

Day of the wedding I am having professional hair and makeup done.

@VMDIZZLE...Valarie, are you going to get a manicure? They can just buff your nails since their will probably be a lot of photos where your hands will show. Around here that costs like $12.00

@Jacqui - You could always try a facial now and see what the facialist recommends. They make suggestions based on your skin type and any issues you may have. The spa products are really good. And then maybe 2 or 3 months before go back for a couple more facials to prep.

I'm doing at-home glycolic acid pads (for the past month) to help clear up some acne and reduce previous acne scarring. It's working really well and is super gentle. The ones I have include toner as well, so my skin looks great right away.

Lyn, what type of glycolic pads do you use? I've been told to try them but I don't know where to start.

I would love to get at-home recommendations too. I am also planning to buy a Clarisonic brush for at home cleansing. Any clarisonic users here?

I'm not sure yet what all I will be doing, but I know I will be getting a mani/pedi, touch up on my hair cut a week or so before, touching up eyebrows, I'm starting to really focus on my water intake/skin care routine because if you don't have nice skin, it doesn't matter what you lay on top (in my case I have very dry skin, so I get flakes and it causes my foundation to cake up no matter how much I pay for foundation). Those are just a few things, but I'm working on solidifying everything I want to do. I considered spray tan, but ultimately, I don't think I will because I'd have to buy a different color foundation, it is expensive, and FH does not care for it.

My biggest thing is to NOT try anything new on the skin. This includes face masks, no matter how pretty they smell. The last thing I want is polka dots on my face... well, unless my wedding theme was polka dots. Smiley smile

Not doing much. Massage three days before. Sugaring and hair two days before. Mani/pedi day before. Then it's go time!

I'm so glad you started this thread! Since I'm about 3 weeks out I've really started to think about this. I'm usually pretty low maintenance when it comes to beauty but my current objectives are just trying to maintain clear skin, not get any cold sores (which can be tough with the stress) and get very slightly tanned by going to the beach (I'm in San Diego so it's still warm here Smiley smile ) I totally agree with Annette though. I'm only using products that I've used before so I know I won't have any kind of reaction. I got a birchbox sample of Vasanti BrightenUp once and loved how dewy and bright my skin looks after using it. I ran out but I'm buying more today. Also, pore strips are always a winner for me.

If anything, I might whiten my teeth. But a mani/pedi isn't all out of the question Smiley smile

Where are you getting your lash extensions done? I think we are in the same area... I am still looking around for my perfect lash artist. I have had them before at a place on Newbury that was just okay. I am considering facials at Brad Duncan, tanning, exfoliating, and drinking more water.

so far, I have had a ton of trips to my orthodontist to keep my teeth flawless and straight... if that counts lol i have also considered semi-permanent brow microblading.

My mom is taking me for a massage the week before the wedding, I will also get a body scrub done at the same time for my spray tan. All the girls are going for a mani/pedi the day before the wedding as well.

@Janae I do live in Boston but I'm getting married in Vermont so my MUA is based up there. If it's on Newbury I'm sure the quality is top-notch, though! Smiley smile

ETA: just re-read your post, you said it was "just okay" haha so maybe check Charles Street?
