Postponing wedding July 2020 issues ? Help

Verona, on April 20, 2020 at 6:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 10
Hey guys . So we called our venue and asked about possible postponing about our date and the owner said that we are in the “safe “ zone . The wedding is 90 days away and we feel it’s not safe for our family and friends . Economy is going down and many people out of jobs such as myself as well . The owner said he needs to talk to his lawyers and stuff and he will call us back z it’s kind of weird and I don’t know .. anybody had any issues regarding this ???

Will he not allow you to change dates at the same venue?

Hi Ashley . My finance spoke to him and he said he wasn’t clear at all . He said he wants to handle it by the book and talk to his lawyers and he said he will call us tomorrow . My Fiancé said he seemed very reluctant . I don’t know . I just wonder if anyone has these issues ? I’m also worried he might not allow us or something or upcharge is for next year ...

If you dont feel safe and it is a pandemic you should have every right to atleast transfer the date. You should get a lawyer I wouldn't even transfer my date with them I would cancel and demand money back for being assholes. They could lie to you and say they have the right but until you have your own lawyer you dont know for sure. So if you go through with the wedding because they left you almost no choice and your family member gets covid and dies l would tell them you are sueing their asses. The venue only cares about your money not you or your family health at all. I wouldnt want their buissness.

Hi Veronika! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm in the exact same boat as you. Our wedding is August and we are requesting to postpone it into next year. They're trying to charge us another 50% more to move it into next year or cancel with nothing. They're having no respect for this huge event in our lives! I'll keep you posted on how it plays out as we are hoping to speak with them this evening.

You're so sweet! I'll be praying for your situation as well. We're from San Jose, CA. This is the venues second year opening there property up as a business fro weddings. They seem too new to know what to do during times like these. Still no excuse. Talk soon! Xo

It seems to me at least that some of these venues may be trying to buy time? No one who doesn't have a date yet will book your date or any other date in 2020 for that matter. Additionally, the longer you take to book a new date next year, the more time new brides have to come in an take more desirable dates for next year. It is such a horrible situation. I recommend a lawyer or at least mentioning getting a lawyer to the venue. I get that these places are just trying to survive, but they should try to do the right thing.
